OK, thanks, it seems to be getting even worse!
I may have to go and live in S, Africa, where I believe its easy to get in, and the property is a lot cheaper than Spain, 3-4 bedroom detached houses £60000 and I read that the health system is free to everyone, although it says its not that good!

It's crazy really that someone who lives in the continent of Europe cannot live in most parts of it due to a daft referendum vote.
Yet to see a benefit of Brexit.

Lynn is correct - since the beginning of this year, the S1 can be used as proof of healthcare for visa applications.
When you contact the NHSBSA to request your S1, you can ask them to send it to your UK address, so that you can use it to prove healthcare when you go for your NLV appointment at the Spanish Consulate in the UK. If you qualify for an S1, you do NOT need private health insurance to apply for the NLV - please see Spain's official website:
https://www.exteriores.gob.es/Consulado ... ativa.aspx
from which I've taken the following extract:
"6. Health insurance..... A receipt of registration of S1 form on the web of Social Security is also accepted as medical insurance for non-lucrative visa. To register S1 form please access the following link (Internet Explorer does not support this web, please use alternative browsers):
https://tramites.seg-social.es/acceso/r ... 3%B1a.html "
Once you've registered your S1 online, you take the original and a copy of the email confirming your S1 registration to your NLV meeting at the Spanish Consulate - make sure you get your S1 back, so that you can complete the registration once you get to Spain.

All the requirements for residency in Spain are listed here
Residency in Spain
The bit about obtaining the S1 in UK was amended back in February.
I have just updated the amount of financial income that is required to reflect the 2.5% increase in IPREM for 2022.
At the 1 and 3 year point, you do not need to show double the 4xIPREM. You need to show that the 27,000 ish required will be available for each of the next 2 years. Of course, if you have over the 54k then that's a done thing. So yes, you do need to show 54k but not for just the next year, it is over a 2 year period.
I have also been reading the Moncloa (Spanish Parliament) records and there has been nothing mentioned about amendments to residency requirements for 3rd country nationals except the Golden Visa (which you can obtain if you purchase property over 500k) being restricted for Russian nationals.
Why not look at Portugal? You only require the national minimum wage there which is less than €1,000 a month.

I followed the link and in the form is this which clearly demands a TIE.
Does anyone have PERSONAL experience of obtaining a TIE with an unregistered S1 or registering an S1 without a TIE?

I doubt it very much! A TIE is a ‘residence’ permit and as you’ve said already, you need health cover to obtain residency!!

My point exactly, acceptance of an unregistered S1 during a TIE application has to be at best theoretical. You need proof of in place health insurance, a piece of paper (S1) which says that you can get it if you're granted residency is not that.Paul M wrote:Darro wrote:
