Smoking on bar terraces

The Costa Blanca News is reporting that the ban on smoking on terraces, introduced during the Covid pandemic, is coming to an end in our region.

"Hospitality business owners in the Valencia region will be able to decide whether they want to allow smoking on their outside terraces, as the new regional government has decided to quash any remaining Covid-19 health measures that are not required by the state.

This will bring Valencia into line with all the other regions in Spain.

It will come into force after it has been published in the DOGV (official bulletin of the regional government)."

I know many businesses have not been complying in any case for some time, but they can soon officially decide for themselves.

I hope most of the bars will continue with the ban - nothing worse than enjoying a drink or food and someone a few feet from you lights up!! I've stopped going to some places because of it!
This is only my feelings, of course.

We're the same, but it's a free country so each establishment will have to decide what it wants to do. Many smokers are more considerate of others these days and for the most part ash trays have gone and we've got used to mostly smoke-free environments. We were also hoping the regional government would continue with it post-pandemic, but it seems we'll just have to be more selective about where we go. Not a problem, there are numerous options.
