We live in England and have our holiday home here, we had a phone call from our neighbour last week saying our villa had been broken into. So we have come over arriving Tuesday afternoon to find that the conservatory window, door and main front door had been busted open, causing damage. The front door had been shut so we struggled to gain entry. When we entered it looked like a disaster zone as they had tipped the place upside down. Every cupboard and drawer was turned out, the sofa cushions had been ripped, they took off kitchen cupboard end panels and plinths. As it is a holiday home, we don't leave valuables here, so they didn't find anything of value. They took an electric guitar, guitar stand and amp, telescope, metal detector, painting off the wall, a large holdall which we think they used to steal tools with. We have had the place for 20 years and this is the first time this has happened to us. we have our insurance through Caixa bank, we spent two hours trying to get through to them, all they do is cut you off. We shall be making a complaint to them and cancelling the insurance with them as now we have dealt with the repairs ourselves. The local police and guarda civil police both arrived quickly and took details.
The guitar that was stolen was a fender, stratocast, sunburst.
The telescope was a skywatcher.
The metal detector was quite basic but yellow.
Also, a 9 inch Makita angle grinder.
If anyone sees in a shop or market items looking like these, would you let me know please?

There were 4 break-ins in a small block of flats during Christmas time, they took everything apparently, just left one poor English lady 2 plates. She popped into Reachout and luckily they had a few saucepans and a frying pan for her as she was desperate.

Scumbags. Quesada obviously isn't the place it once was. The amount of break ins you hear of and muggings is awful

Sadly this.

Horrible thing to happen to anyone. My thoughts go out to the OP.

Poverty is rife in Spain and as the gap grows so does people's desperation to make a living at any costs. The price society pays for inequality is huge

Sorry to hear about your break in , most upsetting ,which we experienced years ago and we were in bed . Our neighbour had a problem a few years ago and her insurance was with her bank , and guess what they were useless . My advice is use a insurance company someone who you can get hold of when a problem arises . Just more greed by the banks trying to get your money and then not upto the job , you don't see insurance companies lending money and other banking services .

Banks don’t tend to issue insurance ,they sell you one through an insurance company, then either overcharge or just claim commission. Unless things have changed recently.

Yes it’s getting worse all over the western world unfortunately.

I also have a holiday home and touch wood apart from one attempted break in many years ago we have been ok. We luckily have brilliant Dutch neighbours who keep an eye on things.
Saying that I work as a electrician working in the security industry and have improved our security over time, feel free to PM me should you need any advice on a suitable intruder Intruder alarm/CCTV controllable from your U.K. location.

Take Care
