good point. please remember I deliver the beer to most pubs in manchester and have done for over 20 years and yes Wetherspoons are cheap on real ale but I wouldn't drink real ale there because they are not really intersted in beer and lack the knowledge and understanding of real ale. also had a very successful pub which was in the good beer guide with C.A.M.E.R.A there is some great hidden beer houses if you know where to look. my friend.

Guys, it’s actually Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). The price of beer is a lot higher here and in most of Europe as we are charged a huge amount of tax compared to other countries, one of the reasons that so many pubs are closing.
We are the 3rd highest after Finland, ROI and Sweden. Germany and Spain are the lowest at a 10% of our tax.
And it all depends on where in the country you buy from as having just returned from ROI a pint in Dublin can cost you €8.50 but a local in a village near Wicklow as little as €4.50.
The tax is due to be raised again which will greatly affect more small pubs. A campaign is going at the moment in an attempt to reduce the tax - longlivethelocal.pub/Beer/Duty

Nothing wrong In expecting value for money e.g., a full pint of beer when buying a pint. Your froth is the same price as the beer and you only drink the beer. You’re being ripped off by the sparkler on the publican’s pump
Are Northerners daft or rich?

were simply not daft up north as I think we all know northern beer is much better as for the south.
you have courage ales. and by heck you need courage to sup it its awful and remember the Wilsons bitter. by god did you southerners ruin that with Watneys Red barrel. you certainly have ruined some good beers and ales. I was in a pub in Essex and they wanted to serve John smiths smooth flat. so us northerners know our beer but you southerners can drink flat beer we don't mind
and its Friday now in good old manchester. and its pissing down what a day. soon be out in spain again. watch this space

There’s a town in Surrey, Dorking (thats down South by the way) which hosts a brewery, Surrey Hills Brewery. In fact one of their beers has just won Supreme Champion Beer of Britain with its Shere Drop Best Bitter. I’ll stick with that, thank you and, Fullers, Young’s, Shepard Neame, Tongham etc. etc. etc. And, I’ll enjoy a full 20ozs of precious liquid, hand drawn and served at the correct temperature rather than the freezing and frothy stuff, pumped and squeezed through jets into pots .

good post. but Fullers have been taken over. recently. by Japanese brewers and shepared Neame. will also change. Youngs still probably good. and I agree I don't like fizzy beer through pipes cold. there is some amazing brewers to be had in the uk but I still like a creamy head on the beer so we have a different approach. but I think we need a real brewer in quesdada. sooner rather than later we need investment. and perhaps a /Co-operative brewery. idea. well who knows but I expect someone will throw a spanner in the mix. and all the red tape. and bull shit.
