U.K. government
U.K. government
by Benjy » Thu Oct 21, 2021 10:54 am
The U.K. has had bad governments and some not so bad governments, but this decision not to enforce some sort of restrictions to try and counter the covid virus shows beyond doubt that this is by far the most irresponsible government that has ever been in power.

I think the UK Government is actually doing very well under the circumstances.
The rest of the world must think so too, with most countries opening up to UK visitors, even the really strict ones like Australia. The pound to also climbing. A few months ago it was as low as 1.12,now its steady at over 1.18. The economy also rose by more than predicted and better than the EU and many other nations.
Yes infection rates are up, but at this stage not as claimed out of control. Deaths sitting on average 128, against 1000 last year too.
These are unprecidented times with a virus the world didn't expect or understand. This government was elected with a majority at the worst possible time and had to deal with Brexit and Covid at the same time. Regardless they have continued to get brexit done and getting covid under better control, whilst spending billions keeping the majority paid and keeping the jobs market and economy on track.

So you don’t think that 300,000 new cases a week and 1000 deaths a week is out of control? What actual numbers would you say is ‘out of control’?

Around 90% of of positives are symptom free. This is an endemic now not a pandemic.
In regard to deaths, the figure might look high but in reality its not, when compared to other illnesses. You also need to factor in that the death figure is where the person had a positive test in the previous 28 days, but not that covid was the cause of death. The figures are misleading. You could die in a car accident but be a positive covid figure, or die from cancer and also be a covid figure if you had tested positive..

This Government is the worst, What about Neville Chamberlain who appeased Hitler?
Nobody is saying the figures are not out of control but it's also down to the British people to take some responsibility not just the government.

and the way that all 100.000 of them were forced to strip of their masks was appalling

I'm sure people conveniently forget that the majority of care homes are private. The purchase of PPE is their responsibility. Yes shortages but you can't blame the government for everything.
