Visa

Visa

Postby Markbeama » Tue Mar 19, 2024 8:30 pm

Hi, Hope you are well
My wife and I are looking to move to Spain when we retire,
I've been looking online for visa requirements
I don't understand about the €28,000 yearly income part, does the €28,000 income come from state pension and private pensions or is it saying you need €28,000 in your bank account all the time.
I would be very very grateful for any help regarding visa's
Thanks Mark

The current income requirement is €28,800 annually for the first person and, if a couple, another 25% so €36,000 annual income for a couple.

As I understand it, you will need to be able to continually demonstrate this for each year until you are accepted as permanent residents after 5 years. This must be passive income e.g. pensions, interest, dividends, rent as you are not allowed to work.

It may be that savings can be taken account, but that would be down to the individual circumstances of your case when you apply for the visa. Essentially you must demonstrate that you can support yourself.

It's best to seek specific advice from an immigration lawyer experienced in this area. There are lots of people have done it now so others on here may have a more personal experience to share, especially on the use of savings to meet the financial requirements.

Yes because, as members of the EU, Irish passport holders have freedom of movement and don't need a visa to live and work here. Someone else would need to clarify what would apply if you have an EU passport and your wife doesn't though. Your original post implied you had only British passports and needed a visa.

Sorry Paul,
I'm in the process of gathering all the documents to get my Irish / EU passport through descent, shouldn't have any problems getting it though

We are still in UK at the moment,
Have stopped in Doña Pepa a couple of times before, and this is the area where we will be living when we come over
