WhatsApp - Free phone messaging

Hello Everyone,

I used a brilliant free messaging service while in Spain last time,called 'WhatsApp' and just thought it was worth mentioning.

When there's a WiFi connection, a message can be sent just like sending a text, really quickly and easily. It also can easily be used to send photos instantly from wherever you are - All free to send! I found that non-urgent messages can still be written when WiFi is out of range and they will be automatically sent & received by 'WhatsApp' when back in range.

I'm not particularly quick at getting my head around these kind of things but I found 'WhatsApp' really easy and fun to use.

For those who haven't used it, it's free for the first year for most mobile Internet phones and after the first year it is only a small nominal yearly fee for most phones of 99p (69p for IPhone). Multiple years can be bought at a discount.

wife been using it on her phone quite a while now, like you say its free, quick and easy.

Yes, I only discovered it last month and very impressed with it. I use it all the time now!

Another little gem for you;

if you and a friend are on your phones, on wifi, and both on Facebook (and have Facebook messenger installed and are "logged in"/ "active") you can call each other for free.... (in case you didn't know)

Yes I have Facebook messaging which is good but using 'WhatsApp' is so much better for everyday use, as it's just like texting. It comes through instant - You don't have to be on anything as it's set to your phone all the time. I was amazed!...and I'm a Facebook aficionado too! Give it a try and see what you think!

Oh we use Viber for that : http://www.viber.com/ Completely free calls on WiFi.

Not used Viber for a year or so- it was a PTT system (push to talk) when I used it last- not sure if its fully 2 way/ bi-directional conversational now?
(You basically recorded a message and it sent that and waited for a reply from the other party)
