Where is the noise coming from??

I know it's Fiesta time and having lived in Spain long enough, realise that any Fiesta usually entails a lot of late night noise. However we have recently moved within Spain and now to Lo Crispin, where most of the time (except for the pesky cement lorries and mixers trundling up and down Ave. de las Naciones) we have peace and tranquility. So imagine our suprise and shock horror when at 4am this morning, we were unceremoniously awoken by the noise of very loud drumming and music, which seemed to be coming from over the artichoke fields and beyond. At one point it was so loud it even woke the cat. Now I know Quesada's Fiesta doesn't start until Sunday (according to the Coastrider) so, does anyone know where this noise is coming from?? - and believe me, it is a noise and it went on well past 5.30am, by which time we gave up and had a cuppa. I don't wish to sound fuddy duddy being of a certain retirement age, but coming from an era that invented disco music we're not adverse to a spot of dancing, but not at this unholy hour!!

Yes same here in the topish end of Quesada, near Country Club. About 4ish every morning the drummers seems to go crazy, thought it was Rojales but if its that loud in Lo Cripsin cant be. So no idea, Almoradi?

well a friend who has a holiday home on the Costa Del Sol has suggested it may be building work, but if that's the case then I would have thought a 4am start to be illegal. Anyway the noise is definitely of music with the bass drums getting louder and louder. When we opened the shutters and windows this morning to get a better idea of where it was from, it seemed to come from the Zoco market area but then it reverberated over the farmland, probably as it was a bit windy as well. V. strange but good to know we weren't going mad and hearing things, so thanks!!

We have had a similar noise a couple of times over the years but obviously I can't comment on the noise at present because we aren't there now. However, when it did happen we assumed the wind must have been in a certain direction as it very rarely happens. A few years back it was 5.30am before the beat/drumming subsided and being Summer we had all the windows open so it kept waking me up.......that and the snoring on my right-hand side ...Some people sleep through anything!!

It seems hard to tell where music is coming from around Quesada - Once we went up to the country club and they had an open-air pop band playing and it was a very hot night and we walked home, while they were still playing. As we started walking we realised the music was bouncing off in different directions and after a few minutes walking we remarked, at the time, that if we hadn't known where it was coming from it would have been impossible to tell, as it sounded like it was coming very loudly from a totally different direction.

It could be coming from 'Disco Alley' in Rojales, which is an area of late/all night Discotheques and possibly not always heard if there's no wind or for whatever reason.

Well we are now determined to find the culprit(s) as last night, having stayed up until 2am watching the Olympic Opening Ceremony, we went to bed with the noise having started already and it went on and on until well gone 4am. We can even hear it with the double glazed windows and shutters all closed. It does seem to come from the Zoco market area, and coming back from Los Montesinos this morning, having a look around it's quite possible that raves are held in the sheds and empty buildings around that area. That's my theory anyway. Strange that the Police do nothing though -I thought there was a law about late night noise especially from bars, and it isn't related to any local fiestas. Thank goodness for afternoon siestas then?¿

As Sandra says, you could have a word with the local police and ask if they know where it is coming from - They may have had complaints already. It's amazing though how they are ultra-quick to clamp down on outdoor musical entertainment from the Brit owned bars, even when it's relatively early evening sometimes, and nowadays the law appears to be midnight for outdoor live music to end. Be interested to hear what they say.

You could even try asking in the Town Hall. The lady in Quesada Town Hall is very helpful and can understand a bit of Spanglish. Once we asked if there were any public toilets for the Fiestas in Rojales and she spoke to a policeman for us as she didn't know. Policemen tend to come & go past the desk there. BTW - no public toilets anywhere that they knew of in Rojales in the evenings at Fiesta times grrrrrrrrr!!! What's wrong with Portaloos??? They organise everything else on Fiesta nights but not a thought to where hundreds of people can use the loo. When one person in a group needs the loo, during a long fiesta procession, getting a drink in a bar just to use the facilities isn't so easy!

Yes true..... but we can't easily go behind trees & bushes like you men can ...and yes I have noticed :shhh: ......and it's not fair

I know - men just don't care where they go but when they have to go , they go - unlike women!!

So we'll see (or hear) what occurs tonight. We have very few neighbours here even though it's high season and our nearest won't be back until mid-September. You'd think it would be so peaceful. Hubby said he'll have a word with the President too. We live right by the end and near the Lo Crispin Arches so very open towards the fields. We have to go into Algorfa town hall next week so I can enquire there as the local Police have an office inside but, as you said, it's probably best to visit Quesada or even Benijofar as both are nearer to us. A friend in the UK said it sounds like a strange cult doing their thing, but she does have a vivid imagination. I shall keep you informed.
