PCR tests are not compulsory. Update as of 2 days ago still an antigen test is acceptable.
Type of test
You must make sure that the test provider you choose can meet the standards for pre-departure testing.
The test must meet performance standards of ≥97% specificity, ≥80% sensitivity at viral loads above 100,000 copies/ml.
This could include tests such as:
a nucleic acid test, including a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test or derivative technologies, including loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) tests
an antigen test, such as a test from a lateral flow device (LFD)

Hi guys
Thank you for your replies , this is all very confusing I must say , I was advised that the lateral flow was not acceptable now and a full PCR test was needed to return to the U.K.
I’m not returning to U.K. until the 9th of sept so plenty of time to asses the situation I just don’t want to end up with a £500 fine because I do not have the correct test
Ok so where is the best place to get a full PCR test done near Dona Pepa please
Thanks julie

put PCR in the search box on the top right.
If you put covid + test you'll probably get lost with the hundreds of posts on the same subject.

Julie,
I wouldnt worry about any fines. Nobody has been successfully prosecuted so far. Read this article from the Independent newspaper.
Another Boris con.

We've booked tests at the pharmacy in El Raso on 8 September. €40 did an antigen test - which is all you need at the moment.
