dogs dirt

dogs dirt

Postby Joy arise » Wed May 11, 2016 9:26 am

while walking our dog this morning, my husband saw an older couple with a tiny yorkie behind them. The dog stopped at least 3 times and crapped ( for want of a better word)on the pavement. The couple didn't even notice. He said they were quite far away so he didn't shout to tell them. Personally I would have ran over with a bag and told them to pick it up. There is dogs dirt everywhere, it's disgusting.why would people do this???I have to dodge the stuff when walking my dog, I dont want it on his paws and brought back to my house. Please everyone pick it up and tell others to too. Himself is in trouble for not being pro active!!

:text-goodpost: There is so much poop on the pavements that it isn't possible that all of the owners in question have failed to see their pet performing. I fear you may be preaching to the converted here though,Joy.

It may be Spain but same as anywhere, including the UK, there are responsible dog owners as well as irresponsible dog owners. You can't tar everyone with the same brush. Joy arise who started this topic is a responsible dog owner.
It is a shame when some people don't care. I am not a dog owner and although I notice the mess and get annoyed, I also acknowledge that not all dog owners allow their dog to poo without picking it up.
There are laws in Spain about dogs mess and fines can be handed out but, same as anywhere, the problem is catching the owners not picking up after their dogs.

I went to Seville a few weeks ago and slipped on some ghastly dog mess on the pavement, luckily I was walking with a friend who was there to catch me otherwise I would have fallen into the mess. It's everywhere!

And yet every dog owner you talk to say they always pick up after their dog. Ask people in Quesada and they'll generally reply "It's the Spanish".
Well, some time ago (before they built the park there) I was sat in Gama car park waiting for my OH to come out of the hairdressers. At least 7 dog owners allowed their pooches to do their business and didn't pick it up. It was quite obvious none of them was Spanish (the owners, that is, not the dogs).
Torrevieja must be the dog poo capital of Europe (oh, hang on, I just remembered Brussels*, now that is the dog poo capital, good job it rains so much there and washes it away).

*Not the EU parliament in case the usual suspects pick up on it.

We have been here for about 3 weeks and taking the dogs on the usual morning walk routes I was thinking how much less dog poo there was around compared to the beginning of the year. If that's not the case its sad because the area has safe walking areas with plastic bag dispensers. Also someone in our area circles every errant poo in white spray paint and writes no alongside. Come to think of it, it might be an EU out campaigner making a statement.

I understand that its a woman and I imagine she does it to point out that it shouldn't be there. It seems to have worked because as I said there is less poo than at the turn of the year and the paint has disappeared.

I am a dog owner and pick up after mine whether it be on waste land or pavement ....The Spansh are guilty of it and sadly so are the Brits And other nations ...I have watched several owners just walk away after their dog has done their business ...have challenged several ...but it makes no difference !!!! The owners need to be responsible !!!!!!

Well at least some of you made me giggle. I was thinking of going around with a shovel and bagging the stuff myself even though I'm quite wretchy at the thought. I have been told I will be divorced if I turn into the local dog crap collector. Maybe I'll just take a photo if I see it happen. What I have seen a couple of times is little dogs just being let out to wander. I just couldn't do it. Anyway enough talking crap from me .
