Getting my dog from the uk
Getting my dog from the uk
by Kellza » Wed Sep 02, 2015 3:09 pm
hi,
I have a 10 year old chihuahua who I'm missing loads, my concern for her flying out her is her age and she is very higly Strung (as her breed is)
I wondered if anyone knows a way to get her over via boat & train etc (I'm quite new to driving so it's a bit of a journey for me to drive from the uk to here at the moment)
Any info would be appreciated (I have her passport, jabs, chip etc all sorted it's just getting her here)
Thank you

I was the same as my dog had a heart murmur. I paid for my sister and brother law to come on Brittany Ferry with me from Portsmouth to Bilbao. They have a few pet friendly cabins where the dog comes in your cabin. There are exercise areas too right by. It is probably a bit more expensive but out of season not so bad and you can minus the cost of hotel in France, tolls in France which I believe are quite high plus the extra fuel. Do you have any family or good friends who would bring your dog

Not that can drive (due to health) I was thinking of flying back to the uk, pick her up and get her but I don't know much about the trains here? If that is an option (plus I've not seen any) ferry for part journey is a must I know x

Go on website renfe.com or raileurope.com there are trains from Bilbao to Alicante but it takes about 8 Hours. If you are on fb contact Becky Sweetmam she transports a lot of rescue dogs - who are obviously quite traumatized. I think some pet transporters let you travel with your dog. Good luck I know what a worry it is
