How have your dogs adjusted to life in Spain from UK?

Just to update how we got on, we came via the 24hr crossing to Bilbao and drove down which took 9hrs with 3 small stops. The boat crossing was a breeze especially as we had a pet friendly cabin. on the deck above our cabin was an exercise area for them to do their business.
They slept the whole car journey and it was totally stress free for all of us
They have settled well and are enjoying themselves.

Hi Laura
Thanks I think the tunnel seems more appealing by the day. Think I just worry cos I've never took him aboard before if I did it more often it wouldn't matter and because hes a staffy and classed as a "dangerous dog" you tend to worry more, but I have all the paperwork so hopefully all will be fine. What parts of Spain do you go to?

Hi Steps Clayton
We have a house in Quesada but have stayed with the dogs in Sitges and Roses as well as numerous places in France to break the journey. We are planning a night at Blanes next week on the way down.
Just like with Alisongrahame, the dogs settle down for the long car journey and only pop their heads up when the car slows down to see what is going on.

Hi Alisongrahame
Is your dog(s) allowed to stay with you in the cabin all night? or do they go into some sort of Kennel. I have been speaking with Laura and am not to sure to go via the tunnel or the boat. Was there anyone onboard that had a staffordshire bull terrier at all? Thanks

Hi, if using the pet friendly cabins yes the dog stays with you, I have used twice,, but they have to be booked WELL ahead as they only have a few of these pet friendly cabins, and the last time I used they were VERY expensive, sadly I no longer have my dog, so haven't used for over a year, it was always just the ferry to and from Bilbao, that we used, but they do have kennels on board also,(cheaper) never used so cant comment on those.

Hi stepsclayton
As loners said they stay in the cabin with you all night.
I didn't see any staffs. But if you ring Brittany ferries and query the breed with them, maybe that will satisfy your peace of mind.
I would think there shouldn't be an issue, you will be with them at all times out of the cabin and they would be on a lead. Dogs need to be muzzled from the car to the deck, but you may just have to muzzle him outside of the cabin, when in the exercise area. I would give them a call.
The car journey is considerably shorter by boat from Bilbao.
Good luck, this was our first journey abroad with our two dogs, and there was no issues, they were fantastic from door to door.

Hi, We Came to Spain nearly nine years ago, with 3 dogs, 2 of them we brought over vía the tunnel in our car, our manic collie we had sent over via Dominos kennels and San Antons vets in Guardamar, who also do a 24 hour emergency service. Could not fault them. Still use them. Tony.
