New dog walking area in Dona Pepa 2 - Near Consum

We have a rescue dog who has had a bad life. At present he does not trust other dogs but very friendly with people and we are gradually teaching him to be more sociable. Our one problem is the amount of people that do not use their leads and their dogs (mostly very friendly) run up to him. I then have to restrain our dog and then have to explain his actions, he's getting better but on-rushing dogs frighten him and he snaps so please restrain your dogs when approaching others as you don't know their history.

Dogs with belt means nothing in the dog walking area near Consum. There is a woman regularly in there with four or five dogs, all without leads!!!

That's not fair when other people with dogs come in there... and it must take her ages walking round with her poo bags to clean up all her dogs' poo and it must make it so easy to miss some.

It's not just Spain, we were at Bournemouth Beach a few weeks ago and a lady & man took the leads off 4 dogs who all went in different directions. The couple were chatting and two of the dogs did a poo in the sand and the couple didn't notice them. There were children running around and playing on the beach! When the dogs had had their run around, they called them back and put leads back on - They were obviously quite responsible dog owners as they were carrying a poo bag with them, from earlier, and put it in the bin but as we watched they completely missed the other piles of excrement a little way off on the beach, from their dogs. I wanted to point it out but my husband said not to for fear of being a busy body. Clearing up after dogs when they are off lead and there's more than one can't be easy, so that's another good reason to keep them on leads as much as possible.

surly a responsible dog owner would carry poo bags & not rely on bags being in the red box!

The lady could be a dog walker for owners who can't do it themselves,if so all credit to her. The dogs are always having a great time and enjoying the freedom and she does seem to keep a close eye on them.

charlie have you seen the yellow dog leads and jackets? they say no dogs so in theory any good dog owner will see that and lead up their dog. after mine was attacked i used the lead for a while until i retrained him back to how he was before and it did work. the jackets are really bright and clearly state no dogs

Hi all, we are hoping to move to the Quesada/Dona Pepa area this Autumn and we have a lovely 2.5 year old Black Lab. He's really well behaved but needs a good run off lead every day, preferably chasing a ball! Are there areas where we can take him? We walk him on lead also, but his run is what he looks forward to! We always carry our own Poo bags wherever we go! :text-thankyouyellow:

That sounds great, we have two small dogs and only take them out in the evening as so hot in the day, usually to La Mata, but this would be much more convenient. Thanks for the tip...

Yes still there. It is a dog walking area but really dogs are supposed to be on leads but often you can see one person in there with the dog off the lead. That seems ok as dogs do like a run around (as long as the doggy poo is picked up) but I suppose when other dogs walkers come in that person would really have to put their dog back on the lead.

It never seems that busy though.

I think there are dog poo bins at the entrance or there used to be last time I looked which a good thing.
