Pet registration and Injections

Having just moved permanently to CQ, bringing our two west highland terriers with us, can anyone confirm the need to register the dogs
Also even though they have up to date pet passports are there any injections we should consider to give them further protection in Spain
As usual look forward to all the helpful replies this forum generates

All dogs MUST be registered with the local town hall, its the law.

Hi Neil. Welcome to CQ. To register your dog you go to the first floor of the ayuntimiento with their pet passports. It's free to do but is the law. As scubbydoo says the vet in Benimar is excellent. They will definitely need protection against heartworm and leishmaniasis but they will advise you

Hi, we have been here 3 weeks and plan to stay around a year but didn't realise we had to register our Dog. We've registered ourselves! Is it at the same Town Hall in Rojales or can we do it more locally?

You must register it at your local town hall, its a very simple form and its free, I was stopped early one morning 06.30 and asked by gardia who were stopping cars and asked if mine were registered, I told them they were, gave them my name and address, never heard any more so they must have checked.
not sure but think its a 200 euro fine per dog if not done.
