House or bungalow

Postby madinmex » Sat Apr 18, 2020 5:48 pm

Hi,

We rented a house in guardamar for 6 months and is due to finish the contract the end of may. We are desperately searching for a house or bungalow within the vicinity as at present it it very unwise to return to central America (our home) We are both widowed/widower with a small pet. We are willing to do long term rental. The owner of the house we are now renting is insisting that despite whatever rules are in place she definately needs the house , no complaints here as what we agreed to but at the time nobody had heard of covid-19. Time is running put for us now especially with travel restrictions. Thank you in anticipation.

BTW apartments are of no use as I am unable to walk unassisted. We tried one before and it was unbearable.

I think you have to stay where you are, didn't think they could evict you at this present time. Maybe ask a lawyer?

We forwarded that message to the agent who said the owner is still sticking to the agreement. I had scoured the internet and the only relevance I could find was that whilst the lockdown was in progress tenants could not be evicted if the cause was the inability to pay rent due to travel restrictions. If the lockdown if lifted before my tenancy agreement expires I will have very little time to find somewhere else hence my enquires now in case I strike lucky. Thank you very much for your reply I shall keep looking for some official ruling.

Call a lawyer, they may offer free advice and should know what the law is

Thanks Chrisdee, I feel optimistic (gotta really) We really had intended going home at the end of May but sadly an actual date is distant....

I get into many arguments with this. We live in the North of Mexico, I used to class this as Latin America, I have been rebuked many times. I am a UK Europeon My wife is a fully fledged Mexican. Just as an aside, I have travelled to many parts of the world and the Mexicans are amongst the friendliest people I have met.
