To be fair, it was an accident and he was a little shook up too, he couldn't even remember all of his address as he said he hadn't lived here long. When we checked in at the hospital they asked what had happened so we told them, they asked if I had any details which I did so I told her his name and registration, that's all we had. I told her I thought I found him on FB She then said try and find out the insurance company he was insured with and fill in the accidente de traffico form which she gave me with mums injuries and the details of the car which I had.

Last summer, I was driving with my adult family back to our house. As we were driving along, a young man, driving his motor bike ahead of us skidded on a ramp and he was thrown off his bike whilst the bike turned over and bits broke off it and were strewn all over the road. I was a distance behind so was able to stop ,well behind him. The young man managed to get himself onto the footpath and was definitely shocked. My daughter and son in law got outvand went to assist him ( she speaks Spanish quite well). I waited for a few minutes but he seemed okay so we moved on towards home. What a shock I got when a spanish man came flying up and cut me off and got out shouting and calling Police. No matter how much we tried to explain, he ‘phoned the police and kept telling me that I had to wait. After a while and no sign of the police, we decided that as I had done nothing wrong,we should continue on our way. You can imagine how shocked I was by this encounter and aggression. I assumed that the police would call with us as the man had taken a photograph of my registration number but thankfully, that never happened. Meanwhile, back at the scene of the accident, the young man wanted to get away as quickly as he could. Fortunately for him, a man with a trailer came along who knew him so he stopped and got the damaged bike onto the trailer and they all helped the young fellow on his way. My family continued to walk up the road. They did see the local police drive past and seemed to be looking for an accident but they was no sign of any carnage and away they went again.
I got the distinct impression that if a vehicle is involved in an accident, they must wait until the police arrive at the scene but in my case, I was only an on looker, I decided to continue on my way. Not an experience I ever wish to have again.

Knocking an elderly lady over is a totally different story. The man should Not have left the scene but I suppose your Mother insisted that she was okay as she probably was in shock too. Poor lady. Hope she is doing well.

This is why I have used a dashcam for 10 years.Whatever happens is recorded in glorious technicolour and removes any doubt about possible witness accounts. However,as the world's most cynical man,I wouldn't reveal this at the time.Store the footage at home and only reveal it if required.

I too use a DashCam but I’m upgrading to a system that combines front facing and rear facing cameras.

If we get T-boned by a driver exiting a roundabout in the left lane whilst we’re circulating in the right hand lane, I will have before and after scenes to show the police.

I hope that both your mum and the driver of the car have a speedy recovery. I feel that from your personal post that the driver was in no way 'unscrupulous' and did what he could at the time offering assistance etc, so that for me says a lot for the driver, someone who genuinely seemed concerned for your mothers well being.
All to often these days people jump on the 'claim culture' band wagon in order to get some money out of an 'accidental' situation.
Personally, if both parties recover to full health, that is something money just wont buy. Best wishes to all concerned.

No assistance was offered by the driver and when I said I think I should call the police his answer was "Whatever" that's not caring but ad I've said it was probably a shock for him. Maybe he will use his rear view mirror in future
