I have used Gaviscon for years and swear by it. Unfortunately you can’t get the bottles here but you can get liquid sachets and the tablets

Surely it would be better to find out what is causing the acid to form and prevent it, may be something that you eat

My twin brother in UK runs a charity about Barrett's disease which persistent heartburn & reflux can lead to & cause cancers etc.
His website is very helpful and he's always keen to help and offer advice.

Suffered same for many years now , instant relief comes from Nestea (or similar) straight from the fridge.
When more of a problem take I take “Zantac@ tablets which are available from most chemists.
If a problem at night when sleeping try sleeping at a slight angle with upper body slightly raised.
Have a good Christmas all.

I suffered for years and nothing would shift it. I went for accupunture for something totally unrelated and because she got all my meridians sorted the acid reflux went as well

Not to worry anyone but you have to be cautious about Oesophageal problems and reflux.
take a look at this link to NICE

Had it for years, quiet often caused by a hiatius hernia, which can be cured by surgery. I take Omaprazole 20 mg x1 every morning and have done for years, works fine. Dont mix it with other ant acids as possibly neither will work.
A decent doctor would probably recommend that you have a Helicobacter pylori test, to make sure nothing unpleasant is going on.
Coffee, chocolate bacon butties etc will make it worse but I find that one omaprazole tablet does the trick

I have read that the real reason that people suffer from this problem is due to lack of acid rather than too much. Apparently what happens is the brain sends a message to your stomach telling it to make a surge of acid when levels are low. This results in the symptom of acid reflux.
The suggested 'fix' for this problem is to take some raw apple cider vinegar before eating as this will help with digestion as well. I have no idea on the quantity but i'm sure a shots worth was mentioned somewhere.
I have no idea if this works as i have never suffered from it myself, although this has been mentioned in a couple of alternative health books i have read over the years.
It may be worth a try as a cheap home chemical free remedy, but as with everything, a level of caution is advised. Maybe start of with a teaspoon etc and work your way up. Other things that are worth analysing are your diet (is something you eat/drink behind it) and you friendly gut bacteria levels.
