Just interested to know does everyone qualify for the General Allowance?
Mostly, if they have an income or pension. I believe it is to contribute towards travel and clothing expenses.
I have just run your figures through the Agencía Tributario simulator and it comes out at 3,662.95

Also as married is that needed for both or is there a joint allowance amount?
He or they are looking at renting only at the moment. I'm pretty sure he said too that their joint pension is less than £17000
Espanabums can you clarify what would be the personal allowances for a married couple over 70 in Spain. As a single person in their 70s would get €2000+€8100
Thanks

In lieu of a separate spousal tax declaration, an additional allowance of 3,400 is granted.
For a married couple over 70, I would imagine that a separate declaration would be more advantageous
Why not try the demo tax link I posted, it is not complicated, just a bit fiddly.

Thanks Espanabums. It was more for the original poster who started the topic I wanted to put the tax allowances to bed. I will definitely give the simulator a go following your very clear instructions. The only problem with the electronic way is that you never know how they arrived at the end figure.

Has the age changed from 75 to 70?
Spanish tax personal allowanceFor the 2022 and 2023 Spanish tax years there is a basic personal allowance for people under 65 of €5,550. Once you reach 65, the allowance rises to €6,700 and from aged 75 this increases again to €8,100.Mar 1, 2024

Thank you Espanabums. I have had a bit of practice on it. I tried with different ages with the same single income.
70yrs one income for married couple of €19777 - Tax 1256.33.
Then one income married couple 77yrs, €19777 - no tax - (looks like tax exempt up to €22,365)
Mínimo personal y familiar +75
Mínimo personal y familiar Parte estatal €10650
Mínimo personal y familiar. Parte autonómica €11715
Then single person aged 72 €19777 Tax €2295.42
