Advice requested on travel to Valencia

Advice requested on travel to Valencia

Postby Shiva » Thu Sep 12, 2019 4:23 pm

I need to travel to Valencia next Tuesday , returning Thursday or Friday. Am struggling to navigate the Renfe site , it looks like there is actually a straight through train from San Isidro ( Albatera-Catral) at 1801, otherwise I was assuming I could go from Alicante if I got to Alicante. Now I have seen on here that there are hourly trains to Alicante from San Isidro but I can't find these on the Renfe site. Anyone done this who can advise on trains? Also does anyone know what bus company does the bus to Alicante? I think there is one bus a day from Rojales and I could maybe get that and then train from Alicante... Thanks

If you google trains Murcia to Alicante it shows up the trains from San Isidro to Alicante, for some reason. They are (roughly) hourly though. If this link works, it should show the times from San Isidro (Albatera/Catral). It's a local line, so I don't think there'll be a through train. http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/cercan ... index.html
You buy your ticket at the machine, at San Isidro. You should be able to book your ticket from Alicante to Valencia easily enough on the Renfe site.

Tarjeta Dorada = Gold Card.
Discount card available to the over 60s and other groups.
Costs 6 euro on production of your NIE and passport and gives a 40 or 50% discount on tickets (less on weekends, I think 25% Fri to Sun).
The card is valid for a year and you buy them at the same place you get your ticket.

Try one of the travel agents. I understand they will do the tarjeta dorada for you.
