Alicante Airport arrivals area

I am picking up a friend from Alicante Airport tomorrow evening and he has asked that I collect him from the arrivals area on the lower ground floor, opposite the entrance to the car park. When I have driven into the car park in previous times it looked to me that that area was only for buses and taxis to pick up. Can anyone tell me if it is allowed to pick up from this area or not? I know I could collect him from departures as I've done this before, but now it will probably take him the 10mins allowed free in that area just to walk to the car! I would prefer just to use the car park but he's quite adamant I can collect him from arrivals. The last time I drove into the car park the police appeared to be moving people on from the arrivals area and waving people on who wanted to stop, thus my question! Thanks.

No, only the area outside departures which is for dropping off although people do pick up from there. 15 minutes there before you have to pay. Outside arrivals is taxis and tour buses only and, judging by last week, you'd never find a parking spot there anyway.

I picked up my daughter last week and parked in the main carpark P1. We got there at 25 to the hour for here quarter to the hour arrival and she was out quickly and back into the carpark at 15 past the next hour.
Cost was €1.50.

Thanks very much Marcliff for confirming what I thought. I'm more than happy to use the car park, especially when it's so cheap. I then don't have to worry about how long I have to wait for him. Car park it is!

On the same topic. Could you refresh my memory on coming out of P1 to join the big roundabout. You turn left out of the entrance/exit and from there....

For the life of me I can't remember how the road goes as I am used to exiting the departures car park and heading down the hill

As you come out of P1, the road goes round to the right and up the hill. There is then a slip road onto the roundabout. If going via Santa Pola and the N332 then first right off the roundabout.
If joining the AP7 then go virtually all the way round the roundabout but take the exit marked Murcia/Cartagena.

To be honest, can never remember going left out of the carpark.

Use the car park.
The continued abuse of the Departures area will end in tears soon.
We picked up friends last week - they txt us on landing - we are waiting at El Altet and swoop in, park up, walk over the air bridge, pick them up in the Arrivals Hall, walk back over the bridge to pay - 85cents.

It's about 3 euro in multi storey car park

It's €1.81 an hour in the multi storey parking. 3 cents (ish) a minute. As I said, we got there 25 minutes to the hour and left at 20 minutes past the hour and the fee was €1.50.
