Ever since I joined this forum burglaries have been an issue. One of the first posts I read was about a resident being burgled in Atalaya Park. I remember it well as I had no idea where that place was at the time.
Then in anoither post somebody was out locally (maybe a bbq) and a neighbour phoned them to say their house in DP was being burgled.
Last one I recall is someone in La Fiesta posting recently they were burgled on a Saturday night and the criminals had probably been waiting for lights out as he found lots of discarded fruit in his garden in the daylight which wasn't there the previous day.
These are 3 posts I recall but there have been many others so I would say - Yes it is a real issue in the area.

It's hard to know the extent of the problem, without some meaningful statistics. It only takes a few people to post that they have been burgled and it can appear to be a significant problem.
I'm sure it's a horrible experience and I hope it never happens to me, but it seems far less likely here than in London where I previously lived.

Yes you have burglaries because the area is touristy and these people know there will be easy pickings of easy to dispose of goods. Not much cash these days since the more common use of debit cards. On the other hand you rarely hear of a murder.

About 15 years ago, I worked on the outskirts of Manchester. House burglaries, in that area, were running at around 30 a month at that time. I lived in different area, that had three recorded burglaries in the last 12 months. The police published the crime statistics on their website. People, where I lived though, thought the area was rife with crime. It's all a matter of perception.
It would be handy if we actually knew how many there had been, and where, over here, if only to help raise awareness. I don't know if the neighbourhood watch get any of that information, or not.

We have had this discussion before. Yes, we do hear about these burglaries and it would appear it is a problem. I feel for those who have been done and the scum that do it should be locked away for a very long time.
It is because we hear of them that we all have the perception that crime is a bit problem around here.
However, saying that, we had so many burglaries in the town I live in in UK (5,681 people) that nobody even commented any more. It seemed to be something that people accepted.
Looking at the statistics for that area which includes 4 villages and a total population of around 15,000 (about the same as Quesada) comes up with:
Anti social behaviour - 202
Bicycle Theft - 4
Burglary - 219
Criminal Damage and Arson - 228
Drugs - 32
Other Crime - 48
Other Theft - 257
Possession of Weapons - 17
Public Order - 114
Robbery - 14
Shoplifting - 32
Theft from Person - 7
Vehicle Crime - 300
Violence and Sexual Offences - 556
Throughout the year that's an average of around 150 crimes each and every month.
Of those, the next bit shows:
Under investigation - 106
No further action - 1530 (no, not a misprint)
Offenders given drug warning - 0
Offenders given penalty notice - 0
Offenders given a caution - 11
Suspect charged - 31
Remainder charges dropped or not in the public interest to pursue.
Our nearest police station was some 14 miles away and they had 17 villages to deal with. We would maybe see one patrol car a week and 2 PCSO who would attend the youth club meeting on Tuesdays.
Now if we had statistics like that around here then I'm sure we'd really have a problem.
Just be careful and don't help people by leaving things open, helping them to get things from shelves and so on. The scum are very good at what they do.

Could I ask how many people on this forum living in the area know of a break in or an attempted Break in the area where they live in the last six months.

As far as I can judge there is no longer a problem with burglary etc in this area when compared to any similar area in the UK or Spain. In fact I would say crime in the UK is much, much higher and more dangerous even in rural and coastal communities now.

As with all topics some people like to scaremonger. For every person they hear was burgled there will be 50 they know that weren’t.
Crime is a problem everywhere not only in Quesada.
Keep vigilant know your neighbours, look out for each other and always report any suspicious activities
Stay safe and beat the scum who are a blight on any society.

I have lived here for almost 10 years. I live in Benimar.
Personally I have one friend mugged, one local house lost their garden furniture and another friend lost the bicycle..
In nearly ten years...
..I have heard of lots of other burglaries, sometimes the same report is mentioned several times which makes it seem more than it is...
I am Neighbourhood Coordinator so get more reports than some others do. There is crime about for sure, no where is immune form crime, banks get burgled..
But people can do things which will reduce the chances..keeping windows and doors locked when outside in the pool or reading... alarms, lock the garden gate, security lights etc.. etc
Here is a publication from the NW which is worth reading
