EU and non EU citizens card

The rules, unless they've changed, do not say you have to have a Spanish bank account as proof of pension income above the IPREM (about €7,000 a year) can be shown.

There are, of course, other things to think of. You don't say if you are an Irish citizen living in Ireland or if you are a UK citizen living in UK with an Irish passport.

You'd have to think of exchanging your driving licence if you have a UK one, getting an S1 from Ireland in your case or, if your wife gets her residency, getting an S1 from UK and having you as a beneficiary.

Probably other things as well.
I bring those points up as you would have an EU citizen card but, if stopped by the police, showing a UK licence (which is currently not exchangeable whereas an Irish one is) or, if you get an S1 from UK, showing the EU citizen card when applying for health cover.
Just a couple of points.

I'm an Irish citizen living and working in the UK. I have only ever been a British tax payer. My wife has never lived outside the UK. I've been told I need to provide proof I've had €7000 in a Spanish bank for 3 months. This proof would be a stamped certificate from the bank. I would need to show full medical insurance for 12 months. Get on the Padrone, using a rental agreement or deeds to a house. A passport and an extra passport picture and have an NIE number.
My wife would apply separately, her application will be done online. She must go to the foreign office twice(Spanish ?) Once to have her fingerprints taken, 2nd time to collect residency card. She must produce a marriage certificate which has an, Apostille of the Hague attached. This must be translated into Spanish. €7000 in the bank for 3 months, passport with extra photos. The Padrone and health insurance for the first 12 months.

It doesn't stop there you also need a police accro certificate stating no criminal record and a certificate , letter from your GP stating you have no infectious diseases as per international health regulations 2005. These then have to sent to apostille of La Hague. At cost of £30.00 per document.
Justify and proof a monthly income during the year of minimum of 2.316,08 € main applicant + 579,02 € (spouse). If you are not married, would be 2.316,08 € each, as individual applications.

- Or alternatively proof of sufficient income to live in Spain for the hole year. The amount at this moment is of 27.792,96 € main applicant + 6.948,24 € (spouse). If you are not married would be 27.792,96 € each of you as individual applications.

Important note: This VISA is valid for one year. After this year you can renewal for two years. The financial means required for a period of two years will be:

- Justify and proof of income during two years of minimum of 2.316,08 € each of you. (Please be aware these prices may increase depending on the Reference Index (what is called IPREM).

- Or alternatively proof of sufficient income to live in Spain for two years. The amount at this moment is of 55.585,92 € each of you. (again, please be aware every year is revise in reference to the Index

The availability of sufficient financial means will be evidenced by the submission of original and stamped documents for the last 3 months that verify the perception of a periodic and sufficient income or the holding of an estate that guarantees the perception.

You are talking of residency for non EU citizens. Brewingdog is talking of him going on the register of foreign EU nationals resident in Spain and his wife obtaining residency on the basis of being the spouse of an EU citizen.

Totally different scenario.

I realized that the poster IanCurtis had confused the 2 situations of eu and non eu citizen applications, easily done. Some of the information I have been given by legal firms, including providing a UK police check. Along with proving I have a minimum of €69000 in savings. But the point that struck me in the IanCurtis writings is the clean health check certified by my GP to prove I am free of infectious disease. Is this a real thing. Is it something I need to prove for a residency application. All great replies, I'm learning all the time. So many thanks.

I'm with SGM solicitors and there the information they gave us regarding the GP letter.

Ask Ines at SGM who will advise you.

Hi, I've had a list of things required from me, most of which I posted earlier. One of which is full health insurance which must cover hospitalisation and operations. Having the letter from my GP declaring I'm infectious disease free is not on it. I've spoke with Ines and it never came up in conversation. Is it maybe only something an non eu citizen needs to provide, which of course my wife would have to do.

Thanks for the reply. I'm assuming you're British, did you have to provide a certificate proving your were infectious disease free.
The sums of money quoted by different legal teams has been astonishing in their variety. Whether it's costs for services provided by the solicitors or monies paid to the Spanish government for documentation. I'd like to think we are aware of costs but I'm sure there'll be plenty of hidden expense. At least we avoid the NLV route even though one of us is English.
