Bank fees

Hi I believed that if I used currencies direct to transfer funds from the UK I wouldn't be charged the minimum 18E by Sabadell as they transfer the money in Europe from their Spanish bank account but I checked my account after doing a transfer yesterday and seen the charge of 18E. Has anyone else been charged this fee after using currencies direct? Please no rude comments about this is what we get for voting to leave the uk

A few weeks back I received an email from CD that I'm sure said ....if you get any charges contact CD and they will look to reimburse them.

I use TransferWise to send money into Sabadell from my UK bank, without the €18 fee. TransferWise are based in Brussels. Excellent, fast and great exchange rates. Hope this helps .

Currencies Direct will refund the 18€ fee if you send them proof that you’ve paid it. They are trying to sort out the situation

We use Moneycorp to transfer money into Sabadell and got hit for €18 charge! When I queried the charge, Sabadell told us that’s the ‘minimum commission’ for transfers from outside the EU.

Yes, CD will refund the charge but at the moment the problem is that the refund is then charged the transfer fee, so it’s a no win roundabout. CD are trying to sort out the problem.

CD transferred ours from Ireland so no charges our bank is in scotland

We have always used CD but Sabadell started to charge us 18e in December before Brexit started! I am looking into transferring all banking to Transferwise.

We have just contacted Currencies Direct we had to email the proof of the transaction + Fees charged to - [email protected] and they will refund the charges. See if this helps you

I bank with Sabadell and had the same problem recently when transferring a relatively modest amount from my UK bank account. Charged €18. Was told this was because UK no longer part of EU/EEA.
So set up an account with Transfer Wise(within minutes) and transferred the same amount(£500) which arrived in my Spanish account within seconds and more importantly no €18 charge and much better exchange rate. So far so good.
