Barbecues or Planchers

Barbecues or Planchers

Postby LOWSUN10 » Tue Sep 28, 2021 11:17 am

Just looking for recommendations. Am considering a small BBQ or plancher and leaning towards a plancher, as there seems to be less maintenance than a BBQ. Also considering the autumn and winter situation weather wise, we would have to cover it up and there seems to be more things to strip down and clean than a plancher, so just trying to be practical at the same time. What are members pro’s and cons with these items. Thank you.

We have one of those concrete bbq's and whilst it's great if there's a group of you, it's a real faff for just 2 of us.. We got an electric plancha and for us 2 its perfect, heats up very quick, cooks all bbq stuff plus more and is non stick so cleans with a wipe..

We got rid of our gas bbq and replaced it with a gas plancher. It’s great and so easy to clean.

Cooking over coals or gas or on a plancher are very different methods and cannot really bear direct comparison.

I have all three and use them according to what I'm actually cooking.

Each can be a 'faff' and I wonder just how many do actually cook 'al fresco' other than when they have guests or visitors, not that many I would guess.

An electric or gas heated steel tray coated with Teflon so non stick to cook food on or just used as a food warmer
