I don't think you will be travelling as ,1 the UK does not open on till the 17th of May and 2 the EU .might not have lifted the third country ban for the UK

The irony is that if Spain vaccinates the two shot vaccine with a three week break and also if Spain uses the one shot jab as seems likely as well then Spain could be ready to move forward before the UK is ready. Lots of things to take into consideration especially the message that "The data will be followed rather than the date". Keep well everyone and keep safe...Me I cannot wait for my first nice cold pint and a discussion about whatever with my friends...albeit at a social distance.

I apologise if I have misunderstood this post but:
I was in UK priority Group 5 and received my first Oxford-AstraZeneca vac dose on 14th Feb (with around 15 million people having received vaccinations in the UK by the following day - (a few/some of whom had already received their 2nd dose) - I am due my to receive my second vac dose on 2nd of May.

On that reckoning (adding a good "safe time" of three weeks) at least 15 million should be totally protected by June (travel passports?) with a much greater number by August.

I really do fervently hope (& wish) that a single dose (Johnson & Johnson) works out well for all who will receive it. However, at a White House briefing there was news/speculation that the company is investigating a 2nd dose (booster dose) for maximum protection.

At a cabinet meeting yesterday, 23rd Feb, the Spanish government decided to keep the travel ban from the UK and other countries until 6.00p.m. on 16th March.

It’s difficult to know what to think. Part of me thinks that people shouldn’t travel anywhere until after Easter but then I think that many of us will have had 2 vaccinations and of course had a negative covid test before travelling so should be extremely safe. I’m sure I heard an expert say that vaccinated people are unlikely to carry the virus so we would all be good to go. I realise that some expats don’t want us returning and feel that we should stay at home but life and normality must return at some time whether you like it or not. We are being told by experts that covid will be with us indefinitely and new variants will suddenly appear . We will be given top up vaccinations annually and soon it will become the norm. Holiday home owners are out of pocket by thousands of pounds every year on top of their purchase price and are quite within their rights to want to stay in their property at some point soon. Our water Bill, electric Bill, WiFi, suma,car insurance, car parking, home insurance, person who inspects and checks our house,urbanisation fees, solicitors fees, bank charges and more have to be paid so like all the other home owners on this forum have the right to hope that we will be returning soon without somebody badly telling us to stay at home. Our Spanish house is very much our home for a good part of the year. You will find that very few of us carried the virus to any of you.

Problem is you don't know if you're a carrier or not do you can't say that, nobody should be traveling unless essential can't understand people who can't seem to understand.

* A PCR test is not 100%
* Just because you have been vaccinated it doesn't help non vaccinated Spanish residents.
* Your holiday home is not as important as people lives.

Well, it's certainly a relief that we can trust & rely on the various governments to make the correct decision about those who are inoculated being a danger as carriers - before they are allowed to travel (certainly between countries) - and that politics and jealousy will not come into it :D .

You only know about some ExPat’s views and, you shouldn’t assume that it’s only ExPats that hold those views.

I’m sure that millions of Spanish are afraid of hordes of foreigners, potentially bring in the virus into the Country.

There is a bigger picture to look.

What I don’t understand about all this bickering is, cases are far worse per 100,000 in the EU countries inc. Spain than the UK,so I would have thought Brits were more worried about catching it if they Tavel than bringing it with them.
