Happened to us 15 months ago. Police were so quick and helpful. Two police cars and a Guardia Civil car turned up in minutes. Then about 30 mins later the forensic team turned up. Photographed everything and dusted for fingerprints everywhere. Had to go down to the Guardia Civil offices/court in Torrevieja and do the denuncia. They provide the interpreters in the mornings. Took about 3 hours waiting for our turn. 2 weeks later we had to go to the court house to confirm details for the prosecution. Took about 10 minutes. Next week we have to go to court again as witness for the prosecution.
Insurance took 10 days to send out an assessor to assess the damage. You HAVE TO HAVE the denuncia. They will only re-imburse you for the things you said in your denuncia, so make sure that you include everything.

“Denuncia - can a member of my family not resident at my address go along and report the crime on my behalf or would it have to be myself? “

Yes. I was burgled a couple of months ago, a friend went on my behalf because I was in the UK. Wishing you all the best.

Forcible and violent entry should be enough for the insurance company, I would not worry about the police report for the insurance

Thank you, still waiting for the insurance company to contact me (24 hours after contacting them about this), I have pictures which demonstrates the extreme actions taken to enter my property.

Unless things have changed recently you have to do a Denuncia at the Police or Guardia. Who is paying for the repairs to your property? It's not always about what is stolen.

I guess this may depend on the insurance company, but I would think many if not most would insist on a crime report. I recently had a shed break-in, with garden tools and two fairly expensive telescopes stolen. The insurance company made it plain they wouldn't even look at a claim until the police report ( Denuncia) was made. So had to go to Almoradi Guardia. Once Denuncia was made ( I took an interpreter) they gave me a Copy with the full number etc which I used to progress the insurance claim.
