Calle Sierra de Gredos
Calle Sierra de Gredos

If anyone else lives in the area of Sierra de Gredos, you will know what a disaster zone it has become. The trees are a nightmare that shed leaves, flowers and seeds the whole year and only get pruned when someone complains. We couldn't see down the road turning out of our close, so the neighbours have had to cut the tree so we can see past it to pull out. Weeds everywhere, -and now you can't walk on the pavement past the driving range because of bushes growing through. Weeds everywhere, street lights missing their globes, and the street lights in our road have been out for 2 weeks. Rojales on the other hand is immaculate - even with posh new potted olive trees opposite Mercadona. Quesada is definitely a second class citizen and I hope if you live in an area with similar problems, you will also go to the council with photos and a letter (include your NIE number and Google translate to put it in Spanish as well as English), because I for one am now fed up of living in a grotty street, when with a little effort it could be so different.

Do you have an Email or postal address to send the complaints to so they can all go to the right place?

artiste , get your neighbours to write a brief email stating that they feel the street is neglected and attach some pictures . Send it to Derek Monks , [email protected] - ( it doesn't need to be in Spanish )

We went to the town hall this morning with photos and an explanation in English and Spanish and it's all been registered and faxed off to someone. The lady on the desk was appalled by the photos! I hope they get the street lighting back on asap as it is a security risk, but we'll see! Thank you for Derek's email. If this doesn't work, I'll message him too.

Rojales council were failing on too many fronts prior to the last election. They scurried around for 5 or 6 weeks before the vote and pulled the wool over people’s eyes sufficiently to get themselves re-elected. Since then, even accounting for the lockdown, they have reigned over the decline of Quesada. It’s been almost impossible to find a plastics recycling bin that is not overflowing. The streets are smothered in weeds, street lights are out, some roads are in diabolical condition and that’s just for startera.
I just hope that the electorate remember how this council has let them down and we can give another party the chance to run Rojales for its betterment.

Would it be the Town Hall to contact regarding the need for more extra high fencing / netting beside the driving range on this road?

Not sure Tjay - but if you speak to the caddy master at the golf club he will tell you if it's council or the golf club. If you send a message on this link https://www.lamarquesagolf.es/en/contact/ I suggest you translate it into Spanish on Google translate if you don't speak Spanish. You do have to make an appointment to go in to the town hall - I got one for the next day, and the ladies on the desk just inside the door deal with all enquiries. One speaks good English. It would help if more people also complained - they might then take it seriously. We still don't have our street lights on two days later!!

Thanks Artiste for the info.
I’ll contact them and see what they say regarding the need for more fencing and how dangerous it is to walk on this road. I’m sure I won’t be the first to contact.
Hopefully now the Town Hall is aware of the lights and tree problems they will get it sorted.
