Hi freddo,

It's understandable that on a long topic certain things may be repeated and if the information is good and reliable it can't be a bad thing.

Thanks

Jan

Valenciasman are you saying that most of the cars parked at Alicante airport are Btitish owned and registered cars, temporarily in Spain, covered by a British car insurance policy, and are awaiting owners to return from a quick visit to the UK for a few days? Because that was what my post was about and not about parking at airports! I was told by SAGA the car is not covered if I temporarily 'abandon' it.

This is an extract from their policy

You are not covered for any of the following:

Freddo with all due respect none of the points listed relate to temporarily abandoning your British car in a foreign land! I expect the list refers to general conditions in the UK. My post was about that and not about parking or airports. I mentioned the airport because that is where I abandoned it! I just want readers to be aware that if they drive their car over from the UK and need to fly back to the UK, to check that if something happens to the car whilst they are in the UK that it will still be covered. I was told by SAGA that it would not. I have no reason to believe that this is not the case and knowing the insurance industry aversion to risk that sounds about right. I am now withdrawing from this thread. :-)

Thanks for your comment Jan, as you say, I didn't realise it was "Freddo's source" that I had quoted.
Sorry Freddo, but with all the highlighting and different font sizes you use in your quotes from other sources, I didn't realise it was the same as I posted, but I won't do it again, I promise. (It was also after midnight and I'm a morning person :)
Also, Thank you for your comments Trotter, that I have to be careful where I get my evidence from, but that's just the point of a forum is it not? To discuss what we have read or heard elsewhere and consult a forum of opinions? I'm not naive enough to think that any monetised website is completely impartial, but when they state something that is interesting, or worrying, then I should be able to post it here in order to get an opinion from others. If the information on that website isn't correct then brilliant, we can discuss it and, if it's important enough, then we can email them and tell them what comes out of this discussion, just like you did.. Well done.
Regularly, the content of many posts on this great forum seem to get lost between the many personal comments and digs that are thrown around. I don't know everything. If I did then I wouldn't care about others' opinions. But I do care and that's why I enjoy using this forum. If I feel like people are constantly criticising and having a go then it will put me off posting. Thanks

:text-goodpost:
Thank you newchocs. We do appreciate your input and you are correct it is what a forum is all about..discussion and debating...If you (or any member) feels that anyone is being too unnecessarily critical and personal please let me know as we can't always monitor every post as much as we'd like to but.....Please don't stop posting!

Now unless anyone disagrees I will now lock this topic as I feel the original question has been answered quite well, albiet with a few differing views thrown in the mix.

Sometimes a very long topic which started from a single question can get a bit confusing and a new topic can always be started if anyone has any unanswered or confused points about anything brought up in this topic.

Jan.
