I'm not sure about the insurance but we are only legally allowed to keep a UK car in Spain for 6 months as far as I know. If you are living in Spain over 6 months you have to apply for Residencia and the car has to be re-registered on Spanish plates.

I think Jan is bang on. Over 6 months and the car needs Spanish plates.

You can only get 180 days with LV think cost is £19.00 extr plus brake down on top think £99.00 year.saga lots of money,but try j Cunninghams in Benijofar they will do English cars 365days inc brake down cover inc plus if you have no claims, that will be as Long as your as tax,MOT from the UK and cost lets just say a lot lower .
Oh yes know all about 6months in Spain try going and ask them on the camp sites that stay year round.

I would suggest you read the HM goverment page on getting cars mot,d it can only be done in the u.k.yes they,ll take your money for insurance,you might get away with it if you have a serious accident ?you might not be in luck then,apparently the spanish police are tightening up on illegal u.k. Cars you,ll also find out your uk licence is only valid with the correct address where you are living

Yes, Saga will cover you indefinitely.

The last time I read up on this it is a max of 6 months for a foreign car in any calendar year. However if you enter after 30 June there is nothing to stop you tacking on the following year's allocation so you would have your 9 months plus another 3 months to use up during the second year should you need it. But things might have changed so it is best to get up to date advice.
