Chewy Chicken
Chewy Chicken

Could anyone recommend where to buy good chicken breasts?
I shop around and get them in different supermarkets, but they usually turn out chewy and tasteless when cooked. I tried marinating and seasoning & then cooking on the hot plate or in the oven - but not very tasty or tender. Ok in a curry or other dish that can be cooked for awhile. I don’t have the same problem back home so is it the quality of the chicken I’m buying?
Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Maybe the rustic or free range ones may be better. I've found chicken breasts exactly the same for years now. Much prefer it off the bone. I did buy a whole chicken from Mercadona and cooked it in one of those oven bags and it was lovely, quite tasty and moist but so much water came out of it, dread to think what was pumped into it.

We find the Carrefour chicken is usually the best followed by Consum. At Gama, the chicken crown (two breasts together which they will cut in half for you) are better then the loose breasts.
Avoid Lidl and Aldi chicken. Do like their pork loins and pork fillets but always disappointed in the chicken we get from them.

Mercadona chicken breasts are superb.(as is all their meat). Slice breast into 2cm pieces and microwave until just done. (Don’t overcook). I like them a little browned on top so put them into a hot frying pan until done to your liking. Delish.

Always bought from Lidl, no problems at all, as good as chicken should be.

We used to buy chicken breasts in Mercadona but no matter how slow you cooked them they were still tough. Now we get them from Gama and they are lovely.

I agree with Daz, I’ve had no problems with chicken from Lidl or Mercadona

I mostly buy my chicken from The Chop Shop butchers, it's delicious, as is all their meat.
