This IS the positive picture, without the lockdown we'd likely be seeing it 10 or 100x worse, what's not to understand about that?

Until there is a vaccine, still probably a year or more away, and then sufficient of it for all, the only defence any of us have it is to avoid contact with others any one of whom could be carrying the virus with no symptoms at all.

I'm no expert but i don't think we'll see any positive slowdown in COVID-19 cases for another week or so at least, given the up to 14 day incubation period & the fact that many people didn't take the lockdown too seriously for the first few days.
