Chinese Bazaars
Chinese Bazaars
by Titch » Tue Jul 17, 2018 1:54 pm
Does anyone know why there are so many Chinese Bazaars in this area? Even in the high holiday season they never seem to be busy, yet there's always a new one being opened. I'm puzzled.

It's because the Spanish government made a deal with China that entailed China buy ing most of Spains debt and Spain allowing the Chinese to sell goods in Spain and have 5 years tax free so when the 5 years are up they just close the Bazaar and open up a new on they have had built

It is not just Quesada with a surplus of bazaars, they are all over Spain.unsure about buying debt as there have been two bazaars in Puerto de Mazarron since 2003 that I know of, many more now and also Chinese restaurants. I seem to recall reading a few years ago that the man behind the bazaars was jailed for money laundering.

An agreement between Spain and China gives favorable tax concessions to each others nationals trading in their respective countries. It is rumored that fascist Franco originally decreed favorable concessions to the Chinese in perpetuity in return for the support he received from the Chinese republic during his struggles. Here is a link to what appears to be the latest update of the agreement between the Government of Spain and the Government of the People’s Republic of China set in 1990. How exactly the Chinese traders benefit from it is not clear, but they certainly seem to.

Why? UK has a dual taxation agreement with the USA and India among others. The dual taxation agreement between UK and Spain is not with the EU.
Many countries have dual taxation agreements so you don't get taxed in two countries on the same income but does ensure you get taxed in one of them (normally the country of vital interest - where you live).
