Copying Music From An External Hard Drive ?

Copying Music From An External Hard Drive ?

Postby viking » Wed Jul 08, 2020 10:23 am

Hi

Any computer buffs out there, who might be able to supply an answer for this query ?

Is it possible to copy over a large amount of music on an external hard drive,on to the SSD internal drive of a windows 10 laptop ?

The ideal scenario would be for the music to stay on the external drive, but also for a complete copy to be installed on the laptop. Would software like "media monkey" need to be installed on the laptop,so that track details etc etc show up when selecting an album ?

There's plenty of spare room on the laptop SSD (250gb),it would be great to have another place to keep the music library safe a secure.

Many thanks,in anticipation of your help.

You could also install iTunes and copy the files from the external drive into iTunes library

Thank you Fred.

If I just copy the music files over to the SSD drive (no iTunes etc),will the album and track listings automatically show up when I click on each folder (or do I need other software installed ) ?

Having used " media monkey" in the past,is there an option to copy direct from the external drive on to this installed software (I presume album art/track listings will show up) ?

As soon as you plug your external hard drive in all files on it show up on your desktop /computer .just make a folded and drag /drop the music files you want to the new folder

Who said anything iTunes?

It really grips my s*it when everybody thinks or assumes that CrApple and it's overpriced 'i' devices are the be all and end all!

CrApple are good at marketing and conning the uninformed and the weak willed but not for nothing in the tech world are they widely referred to as 'The Cupertino Idiot Tax'!

That's your opinion and you are welcome to it , other people are free to have their own opinion for myself I am not a lover of Apple as I have seen the insides of far too many that have gone wrong but people will always buy them also I think iTunes is quite good but that's my opinion
