Covid Passports
Covid Passports
by marcliff » Wed Nov 24, 2021 5:41 pm
The use of the Covid passport has not yet been agreed by the Supreme Court in the Valencia Region. Other regions have already introduced it and Catalonia has extended its use to enter restaurants as well as mass venues previously. The Basque Region supreme court ruled out the use of the passport as they said it was incongruous that customers should show one but not the waiters.
The Min of Health of the Valencia Region has outlined where the passports will be required if the Supreme Court gives the go ahead.
They will be needed to enter bars and restaurants but only the interior. They will not be required to eat or drink on the terraces (wonder what happens if you want the loo?) nor will they be required in shops, cinemas or theatres.
She did say they would be required for entertainment venues so I have no idea what she thinks cinemas and theatres are. I assume she is referring to nightclubs and discos.
Bar and restaurant owners will be able to download an app to scan the QR code on the customers phone or printout. The hostelry groups have asked for an exemption for smaller premises such as coffee shops due to the difficulty of controlling access.
They are also working on a method whereby the passport will be required to enter residential homes for the elderly.
It is expected these measures will be in place before the Constitution Bridge starting 6th December but still requires the all clear from the Valencian Supreme Court. She also reiterated that no other restrictions, such as opening hours, capacity etc would be introduced. Facemask wearing and social distancing will remain.

Now that could be a problem as the reports are saying the bars and restaurants will have an app to read the "EU" certificate QR code but doesn't mention others. If it doesn't then a lot of places will lose a lot of custom as the only other way of entering is by showing a PCR test in the last 72 hours or an antigen test in the last 48 hours.
The data from the restaurant app will be deleted once checked so there will be no record of the customers held.
Sr Puig is holding a press conference at 2 this afternoon to explain how it will all work and, hopefully, will refer to other certificates and where it will apply. Can't see many places in Benidorm surviving if it doesn't include non EU certificates.
Of course, any restrictions will still have to be cleared by the Valencian Supreme Court.

The covid passport will only be necessary indoors in hostelry establishments with a capacity of over 50 and when visiting hospitals and residential homes.
Won't really apply to many places around here. Still to be agreed by the supreme court.

In Ireland you show your UK Vacc cert/ Canadian /US etc and proof of identity or some people have their 72hr PCR test.
I was blaming France in the wrong as they also accept UK Vaccine Certs
France
If ou have been vaccinated in one of the following countries – European Union Member States, Albania, Andorra, Faroe Islands, Holy See, Iceland, Israel, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Morocco, North Macedonia, Norway, Panama, San Marino, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine or the United Kingdom (England and Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland) – your country issues an EU Digital COVID Certificate which is accepted in France, or, in the case of the United Kingdom, a digital format also accepted in France. In that case, you do not need to convert your COVID certificate.

The Valencian Supreme Court has approved the restrictions which will come into force on 3rd December until 30th December.
It is confirmed that the covid passport will be necessary to enter the following:
Hotel, restaurant and leisure facilities* with an indoor capacity of more than 50.
Music festivals, events and celebrations with more than 500 attendees.
To visit patients in hospital and residential homes.
*Leisure venues are bars, restaurants, pubs, discos, bingo halls and gaming clubs. Weddings and christenings are also included.
They will not be required on outdoor terraces, in hostelry establishments with a listed capacity of less than 50, cinemas and theatres although a space of one seat must be left between groups if food and drink are served, shopping centres and public transport. The current restrictions on sporting venues remain in place.
All affected establishments are to display a sign outside to state the covid passport is necessary for entry.
