Spain has the most restrictions in Europe and highest infection rate by Miles.
Seriously what evidence this is working do you provide?
Come on, at least I tried to support my view.
I don't know if face masks work or not. I do know that if you Google "are face masks effective" you'll come up with half a dozen first hits from educational and health organisations that prove they do.
If you Google "are face masks ineffective" you'll come up with half a dozen first hits from educational and health organisations that prove they don't.
Same with oxygen deprivation by wearing masks has been proved rubbish and has been proved true. All depends on the organisation that does the testing, I suppose.
The one thing that swings it for me is the reports (in Spain at least) that show 70% of the outbreaks in Spain have started in family groups where face masks aren't worn. 13% from shared accommodation in work places (such as the immigrant fruit pickers etc) where face masks aren't worn and 7% from social gatherings in bars etc where, again, face masks aren't worn.
That leaves quite a small percentage of infections where face masks are actually worn. No outbreaks in shopping centres, for example where the social distancing rules are quite often ignored.
Anyway, all academic and people can come up with reasons for and against until the cows come home.
As long as we don't get it being blamed on 5G and governments colluding to control the population (as if all the dictators, mullahs, imams, presidents and kings etc all got together to make sure the populations throughout the world could be controlled to the will of those who are, very often, trying to bomb and kill each other off anyway).

Micheal, you said
But even the scientific community say its here to stay, so do you suggest wearing masks snd having restictions for life?
Most virus’s stay forever ie, common cold and the flu, however we don’t as a rule wear masks
When we have a a vaccine that works then life will get back to normal. We may need annual vaccinations for the flu and Covid but that’s no big deal
I agree that wearing a mask as you walk on an empty street is a bit of an overkill but it’s not really a major inconvenience and it’s not forever

With the Spanish government, its possible masks could last forever as they have just run out of ideas, so masks appear to be it.
Worst infection rate in Europe despite all these restrictions.
Other European countries all much less restricted but infection rates going down.
So where is the evidence these restrictions work?

I regard the instruction to wear masks all the time outside as, habit forming, if it’s on all the time there’s no fumbling for it when you come across someone. And, you can’t forget to put it on, when you come across someone if it’s already there.
We’re having to put up with the inconveniences until a solution is found. Once found, we can return to a near normality. It’s a year, that’s all.

I just don't understand the .. unwillingness, the anger, the fear?.. about wearing masks..
What is the big deal around here..?
It is the law, just wear it..why not?.. it is to protect others. Are people so selfish that they don't want to help other people?
As glassful said..it is only a small inconvenience..

Yep. It's annoying for about the first 10 minutes or so but you get used to it.
I'm with Francisco Simon on this (chief epidemiologist in Spain) who says he's not convince masks are that effective but, when combined with hygiene, social distancing and other methods then they do reduce the chances of catching it.
Even if it just lowers your chances by a couple of percent then it's worth it.

Strange, Its not mandatory to wear them in the Uk when walking along the street and the infection rate there is very low compared to Spain’s which now, is just about the highest in Europe

Remember, a few months back when some were crying out for a relaxing of restrictions? Remember too the concern a few residents here had?
It seems our concerns were justified
