The restrictions in Madrid are being confined to 6 of the poorest districts in Madrid. There is an incidence of 1000 cases per 100,000 of population in these districts. The crowded living conditions and poverty are the main drivers in the spread of the virus in the 6 districts. We now have the historical drivers of these types of contagious diseases i.e overcrowded living conditions, poverty and underfunded and understaffed medical services. One wonders how is locking down these areas and causing even more poverty going to stop the spread of the virus.

6 areas of Madrid City. 37 health areas throughout the Community of Madrid.
The 6 areas of Madrid City are Carabanchel, Usera, Villaverde, Villa de Vallecas, Puente de Vallecas and Ciudad Lineal.
But there are other municipalities affected within the Region and they are located in 7 other municipalities of Alcobendas, San Sebastián de los Reyes, Getafe, Fuenlabrada, Parla, Humanes and Moraleja de Enmedio and all 8 areas are served by 37 different health authorities.

Unfortunately the same trend is happening in Alicante City. From an article in today's Informacion. An analysis of the waste water by Aguas Alicante from the poorest district in the north of the city has shown a doubling of the traces of the virus in 20 days -No 4 on the map. The second highest areas of the city are skewed by the presence of the hospital where Covid patients are being treated Nos 1,2,3 on the map. If you have reason to travel in to the city the map is a useful indicator of where to be extra careful.

The update of the Aguas de Alicante study for the City Council shows that the biological trace of coronavirus is up to seventeen times higher in low-income neighborhoods than in the more affluent districts
The study shows that the area with the most worrying data is located in the north of the city, where the latest analysis shows 29,000 ug / 500 ml, which means doubling its worst record - which was already worrying at the time - in just twenty days. Far from these figures is the second area with the highest prevalence of the virus in wastewater (18,000 ug / 500 ml). This is the area where the general collector unfolds, which includes neighborhoods such as Benalúa, Ensanche, along with Carolinas and Altozano. The General Hospital of Alicante also appears in that area, a fact that cannot be ignored in the analysis of that registry since those admitted by covid can significantly increase the data in that area, which is experiencing a very high rise.

marcliff wrote:It was announced today that the restriction in force from 17th August in the Valencia region will be extended for a further 21 days. The order will be published on Monday 7th and will take effect from Tuesday 8th September.
The restrictions are on bars without a food licence to remain closed, no entrance to restaurants after midnight and they must close by 1am. These restrictive hours will also apply to other establishments such as bingo halls and casinos.
The recommendation to limit family social gatherings to a maximum of ten remains except in Valencia City where it is compulsory.
The social distance of 2m for smoking continues.
Does anyone know if these restrictions are ending tomorrow or being extended further please?

The extended 21 days takes us to 28/29 September. The last announcement of extension was announced the weekend before. We will probably find out more by this time next week.

The restrictions in the Valencian Community are extended until September 29th.
The restrictions are:
Clubs, dance halls, cocktail bars with or without music are completely closed.
Hotels, restaurants, terraces and beach bars a minimum interpersonal distance of 1.5m must be maintained and tables must be a maximum of 10 people. Closing times will be 1am with no admittance after midnight.
The recommendation to limit family gatherings to 10 people is maintained and this is compulsory in the City of Valencia.
Visits to residences is limited to one person per resident with social distancing to be maintained. In the City of Valencia, visits to residences is suspended completely.
There are restrictions on public events which won't really apply to us.
The so-called "bottles" where people meet on public streets for drinking and socialising is banned.
No smoking on public streets or terraces unless a minimum 2m interpersonal space is guaranteed.
The extra special restrictions in the City of Valencia will last until 25th September.
The municipality of Beniganim has had its strict lockdown procedures lifted but all municipalities are to adhere to the above.
Please don't ask about quizzes etc as they have not been mentioned but the recommendations of 10 people in a social or family group would probably cover it.

The Imserso, the provision of cut price holidays for pensioners, has been cancelled for the 2020/2021 season. The Min of Health said it would not be possible to send lots of elderly people to share hotels at this time.
The association of hoteliers have claimed this is another nail in the coffin for the hospitality business. With staff already being laid off and hotels closing their doors, no Imserso to keep them going will force many to close for good.
Of the ten towns most affected by new cases in the Valencia Region, the Alicante has 7 of the most hit.
Alicante with 144, Elche with 85, Benidorm with 40, Orihuela with 29 and Torrevieja with 27. Villena and Denia make up the other 2 but Valencia City continues to be the hardest hit with 179 new cases.
Looks like we are surrounded but Rojales has had 4 cases over the weekend taking the total to 8 and Benijofar with 2.
The good news is that the Valencian Region has the lowest level of accumulated cases with 32.88 per 100,000 in the last 7 days.
The Mayor of Madrid has said that Madrid could face total lockdown within the next few days.

Does it look as though our area is going to go on local lockdown any time soon? I know it's a tricky question but just wondered what your gut feeling was.
The reason I ask is that I am booked to fly to Spain for good on October 5th, so just under two weeks time.

There are no plans for any further lockdown restrictions in this area. The current restrictions will end on the 29th September and those extra ones in Valencia City on the 25th. We have no restrictions on movement in the Alicante province at the moment.
