I truly believe that there is nothing really worrying behind the headline
IT MAY JUST BE THAT A 2nd DOSE or "BOOSTER" INCREASES THE EFFICIENCY OF A SINGLE SHOT
(i.e. it is already great & possibly better than Astra/Zeneca overall?
J&J's one-shot coronavirus vaccine may actually be TWO doses (this headline may be misleading)

Johnson & Johnson's one-shot coronavirus vaccine may actually be two doses, the Biden administration said.
The vaccine, which was recently submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for approval, was hailed as one of the most effective ways to help increase supply and bring President Joe Biden closer to his goal of 150 million shots in arms in the first 100 days of his term.
However, during a Washington Post Live event, Andy Slavitt, the White House senior advisor on COVID-19 response, say the company is currently testing the effectiveness of its shot with a booster.
'Johnson & Johnson is currently evaluating how their vaccine performs with two doses in other words with their own booster,' he told host Jonathan Capehart, a columnist for the newspaper's op-ed section.
Pending the results of that , pending what the FDA has to say - if the vaccine's approved in the first place =- there may be a second shot of Johnson & Johnson.'
The news raises concerns that the U.S. may not be able to immunize enough of the population before the more contagious variants from the UK and South Africa become dominant in the U.S.

That's interesting as it would seem we will have to go to the outpatients departments in the hospitals. I saw that Alicante, Elche and Elda hospitals had started them in the outpatients but nothing on Torrevieja.
At least they've now started on general appointments and must have completed a fair few at home by now.
I was wondering where they would do them.

I think they should open up the sports centre and Friday market area, loads of space and could be a drive through? Either that or inside the sports hall plenty of parking around there. Seems an easy solution.

Another area which could be used locally as a vaccination hub could be the Zoco market car parks and the monster truck area, as both have very direct access to the motorway which would allow outlying villages/towns to access their appointments

I don't think they have enough vaccines at the moment to do the mass vaccinations. They are talking of the beginning of April when that is going to happen and big sports stadiums and theatres are going to be used.

The virus is not letting up in the Alicante province. Over 1000 new cases today and 43 deaths which is almost half the total deaths in the Valencia Region. The UK variant is now spreading quite rapidly and 1 in 5 of all cases are now that one. This variant has now taken root and many of the cases no longer have a UK origin but are being spread through families with no contacts from the UK.
Travellers to Spain who have passed through Brazil or S Africa must now spend 10 days in quarantine as well as a negative PCR test. The director in charge of the CV crisis stated it would be pointless to do that to arrivals from UK (only Spanish citizens or residents with a negative test) as the strain is now firmly rooted in Spain.
The outbreaks in the Alicante province are at Orihuela, Callosa de Segura, Villajoyosa, San Vicente, La Nucia, Crevillente and Benidorm mainly in social contacts.
Didn't go too well at vaccinating over 90s at the Saint Joan hospital in Alicante, apparently. The vaccines were in the evening and the elderly had to wait outside for 30 minutes afterwards in case of side effects and they say it was cold (good job they aren't in UK). Campoamor in our area also started and, thanks to chrisdee for the info, so did Torrevieja hospital.
The coordinator also said that they expect 40% of the over 90s to have had the vaccine by the beginning of next week and some areas have started on the over 80s but I can't see if Alicante province is one of those.
He also said that the restrictions in each community have helped in reducing the spread of cases and that the positive percentage was now down to about 8% (from over 20% before the restrictions).

Just to let you know that a friend of mine in her 90s living in Quesada received a phone call to go for her first vaccination yesterday at Rojales health centre. She said there were about 8 or 9 people there. She’s been given a date for her second dose

II am a resident in Spain but have a friend in UK Devon. Is it still a good idea to buy now after Brexit? They have sent me a house thay want to buy here but are concerned not being able to come from the UK this year. I suggested leaving a deposit will make it legal and obtain correct paperwork. I could check it all out for them. They want to complete Autumn time. The owners said they can wait until then. Risky or ris ental better at the moment? Not sure what to suggest any more. Thank you guys.

Good news. Going to Rojales health centre is great info, thanks.
And on the other bit, we have a couple of Norwegian neighbours in their 80s on the urb opposite. She is housebound and they got a visit from a nurse yesterday late afternoon who gave them both the Pfizer vaccine and the nurse said she'd be back in 3 weeks for the second one.
At least a bit of movement in this area.
