Not really Chris. If we are talking about after 12th April why muddy the waters with "after Easter", which is over a week earliery.

This the kind of misinformation we been dealing with for the last year and has caused frustration for many of us.

At the moment there is no speculation on any lifting of current restrictions on 12th April. However at a meeting of the National Tourist Council the autonomous communities were in favour of not lifting the perimiter closure until the State of Alarm ends at 12 midnight on 8th May or 12.01 on 9th May (I am finally getting to grips with the 12 midnight thingy :) ) Madrid Generalitat tried to bring a motion for the lifting of the perimeter restrictions as they say it is offensive to Spanish people that the country is open to tourists but not to Spainards. The motion was only backed by one other autonomous community and wasn't even discussed.

I have seen where Torrevieja intends to have controlled access to beaches similar to last year with dedicated roped off areas. I presume other coastal towns will do the same.

The good news is there is a proposal to do away with the wearing of the mask on beaches if sunbathing or swimming once you can keep the 1.5mtr distance.

Ana Barceló Generalitat Minister for Health stated that the use of the mask is not mandatory on the beaches. She did so at a meeting of Interterritorial Council of the National Health System, where the regional leader proposed that users can remove their masks while they are sunbathing or when they go to take a swim if there is sufficient safety distance from other users, Contrary to what is dictated by the regulations of the Generalitat itself and the central Government, which this Tuesday incorporated the obligation that people over 6 years of age cover their nose and mouth in all outdoor spaces, including if there more than 1.5 distance between them.

They now have to find a legal way to amend the BOE and the Minister for Health Carolina Darias is to set up a working group to look at how this can be done.

At the moment the rule still stands and will be policed over Easter.

The Interdepartmental Committee of the Consell will meet on this Thursday 8th to agree the next stage of opening up. It is not expected that much will change.

It would appear that the thinking in the Generalitat is that measures currently in place will remain for another month until the State of Alarm ceases at 12h01 on 9th May. It doesn't mean everything goes back to normal as you will see from the following article.

Bee

"Within a month on May 9th the perimeter closure will be lifted, which in the Community will have already completed half a year and nine days, since it was decreed on October 30, 2020.
The restriction on the number of people from coexistence groups or not who can meet , both in the private sphere of the home and which is now restricted to the coexistence group; or in the public sphere in cafes, bars and restaurants, where only 4 can meet, it will therefore also cease to be in force , as well as the time limit to leave the home after 10 pm.

The Minister Barceló confirms that the lifting of the state of alarm will affect all those activities "limiting rights" that will "decline with the state of alarm" because its regulation corresponds solely to the State.

The regulatory umbrella will continue to be there," says Barceló, and the new situation will translate into the adoption of general measures and with "common effects for activities such as hotels, transport and education" among others.

These concrete measures are those that must be agreed jointly between the autonomies and the Ministry of Health in the face of the new normal that the population must face while the virus continues among us"

You will not be required to wear masks while sunbathing or swimming or participating in sports. You will have to wear a mask if taking a walk on the beach.

"The meeting between autonomies and the central government within the Interterritorial Health Council this Wednesday saw the approval of a new reality: that of not forcing the population to wear masks on beaches, swimming pools, lakes or reservoirs while bathing, practicing sports or in the rest periods in a fixed place, but yes when going for a walk. With this, the Ministry will modify the Law of urgent prevention, containment and coordination measures to face the health crisis caused by covid-19, known as the 'new normal' law, approved on March 18 in the Congress of Deputies and published in the Official State Gazette (BOE), which established the obligation to use masks in all places and circumstances"

Just a couple of small relaxation of the rules which come into force on Monday 12th until 25th when further relaxation of regulations will be announced

These are the new measures that will take effect from April 12 to April 25:

- In the private sphere, within houses and homes, the meeting of two groups of cohabitants is allowed.

- In the public sphere, up to six people may meet outdoors.

- Tables of up to six people are allowed in the bars.

- A maximum of six people can practice sports.

More flexible arrangements to enable visits to the elderly in retirement residences due to their advanced vaccination status.

The rest of the measures that entered into force 25 days ago remain in force until they are reviewed again at the next meeting.
