My friends were at Zoco this morning Graham and Lynn from 0930-1200 ish and like yourselves said virtually everyone wore masks plus those going in at the same time also used the hand sanitizer
Also as Annie P says it’s sadly the young and unvaccinated who are mainly spreading the virus. Why do you think the England is now offering incentives to the over 18s to get vaccinated
Having said this we still all need to be careful as it’s still very much around us

Just like France, Italy, Ireland etc.
But kids will age and become adolescents then, adults so, you might as well get them done now.
Or maybe it would be best if they get vaccinated (should they choose) when they fall into a age bracket which puts them at a higher risk of death, like say in 40-50 years time?
We will probably be on the x-ray variant by then anyway so one would think the current crop of injections will be rendered out of date.

Current restrictions in the Valencia Region come to an end next Monday so they will be meeting again this week to decide on whether to maintain the current restrictions, go back to de-escalation which they did at the beginning of June before cases started rising again or, indeed, to impose further restrictions.
Again, the curfews in some towns and the limit on meetings to 10 people would have to have the approval of the Supreme Court. Opening hours and other restrictions could be changed without the Supreme Court approval.
Regarding the curfew, conflicting reports on the effectiveness. The majority of towns under curfew have remained basically same in cases and deaths but 10 towns have reduced the cases whilst in 8 others they have increased.
Also, the number of deaths and cases in each of the provinces is widely different. Our Alicante province has seen no deaths in 8 weeks (7 deaths have been recorded but traced back to May) but 31 deaths in the other two provinces with Valencia province having the most. Hospitalisations in our province are decreasing except in Elche but even there they are stabilised.
Lots more visitors around now especially from inland regions of Spain. Roads around the area are definitely busier this week and lots of foreign registered cars have appeared. Hotels in the province are fully booked until the 20th August and over a quarter million from UK arrived at Alicante airport last week.
16 to 19 year olds have been called forward for their vaccines which will start tomorrow (Tuesday 10th)
Spain reached the 60% target of the entire population with both vaccines on Saturday and that makes 74% of all those over the age of 14 with both jabs.
Oh, and another amber alert for high temperatures from Thursday.
One further update. Valencia has received an extra 200,000 vaccines from Pfizer and will bring forward the age group of the 16 to 19 year olds to 12 to 19 year olds . Those under 16 must have parental permission. It was earlier reported that it would be the end of August when they would begin the vaccines for over 12s.

Not had your jabs? The Valencia health authorities will be sending out texts this Thursday in "Operation Catch-up" to give appointments to those who have not had their covid vaccines yet. This is mainly aimed at the 40 to 69 age groups. They say you will be able to inform them of dates you are not available for any reason and they will offer you appointments between August 23rd and September 19th.
They also say that if you have not been vaccinated and don't receive a text you should contact your health centre to arrange one but we all know how well that seemed to work before.
It would appear the current restrictions in the Valencia Region will be extended until the end of August but awaiting the announcement at the end of this week. The fallas from 1 to 5 September could be badly hit due to the increase of cases in the younger population. A decision on that will also be taken at the end of the week.
You may have already seen it but there is a huge, red cloud of dust and sand hovering over the area at the moment (this mornings lot almost blocked out my windscreen and this afternoon's lot did the same even though there was very little rain). Along with this, as mentioned before, another amber alert has been notified for high temperatures from noon on Thursday and will stay over the weekend where temperatures inland (Murcia in particular) could hit 40C. Whilst not as hot today, I do feel it very close and muggy but that could be my increasing age.

I see in Informacion the Generalitat has asked the TSJ to approve restrictions in 68 towns. That is down from the 77 currently restricted. It is also being reported that 10 person limit may be confined to the 68 restricted towns. I wonder will they extend the closing times for bars and restaurants. https://www.informacion.es/comunidad-va ... 33815.html
Regarding those who have still not received a call for their vaccines. Why can't they just have a drop-in centre like other countries are doing. It seems the simplest and most efficient way at this stage. Telling people they will get a text is of little use to those who have missed out so far because they have fallen off the system somewhere.

Santa Pola and Guardamar have been hit by what they are calling a "meteotsunami". High waves hit the coast and flooded the streets with cars being damaged and some boats in the harbour being set adrift.
The sea came up to the walls in Guardamar and Orihuela Costa completely covering the beaches.
This has, it says, been caused by a large difference in air pressure causing the seas to rise and tides to get stronger. From tomorrow, temperatures up to 47C could hit the inland regions but this area should only get up to about 36 to 38C (only!). Alerts have been issued for people to stay indoors between 1200 and 1600 from tomorrow until at least Sunday. 32 areas have been placed on very high temperature alerts bu these are mainly in the Castellon and inland areas towards Murcia.
You are advised to keep shutters and awnings down and stay indoors in the coolest region of the house and do not take part in any physical activity.
Drink lots of water and avoid alcohol and caffeine.

Further to previous posts, the Generalitat has requested the Supreme Court to extend the curfew in 68 of the current 77 towns from 17th August and to continue until after the fallas on 5th September. Along with this, they want the Supreme Court to authorise the continuation of a maximum of 10 people to gather together.
The other restrictions on nightclub closures, bar and restaurant closures etc also look to be extended until September 6th.
The cumulative number of cases has dropped over the last few days but are still 4 times what they were at the beginning of June and cases rose again today to almost 1600 after dropping below 1000 yesterday.
The reported cases in more than 3 people in one group have all been put down to family gatherings.
There have been 17 individual cases in the Rojales area in the past 14 days (up until Monday), 15 in Benijofar, 10 in Los Montesinos, 8 in Algorfa, a continual high count in Almoradi of 156 and 327 in Torrevieja. After 8 weeks of no deaths, 3 were reported in the Alicante Province today.
Don't forget the extreme weather warning for this weekend starting at lunchtime tomorrow.

The limit on family and social meetings being limited to 10 people will only apply in the communities who have a curfew. There will be 68 of these, vice 77, and the names will be published on Saturday after the interdepartmental meeting.
If approved by the Supreme Court, this will take place from next Tuesday 17th August until 6th September. The fallas, due to be celebrated from 1 to 5 September, will be limited in scope and this will also be announced on Saturday.
