Further to the previous post, it has now been decided that everyone over the age of 40 will receive a booster covid vaccine. The first lot, as said, will be those over 70 followed by those over 65 from Nov 15th and those two groups will also receive the flu vaccine at the same time. The next stage will be inviting everyone over 40 for the booster.

Previously reported that the Constitutional Court of Spain rules the first state of alarm to be against the constitution as it was not properly passed by the Congress of Deputies. They have now ruled the second state of alarm, where they allowed autonomous communities to set restrictions, was also unconstitutional as no methods of control were applied.

All those who were fined or received a censure in the first state of alarm have had all records expunged and they are returning the fines. This may happen for the second state as well but will depend on the deed as certain parts were ruled legal.

Marcliff, We’re in the 2nd age group of over 65, so flu jab and covid booster after Nov 15. Our 6 months for covid booster wouldn’t be until Dec so does this mean we will have to wait until then for our flu jab as well, if they are going to be given together?

The gva salud site says the following:
Over 70s will be given the booster covid and flu vaccine at the same time.
65 to 69. From November 15th. Flu vaccine to be given and review the covid vaccine for those who are missing a dose.
Under 65. Same as the 65 to 69 review the covid vaccine for those who are missing a dose.

They do not say a booster will be given to the under 70s but you will be eligible for the flu vaccine.

So it would seem you will get the flu vaccine but not the booster covid vaccine until the 6 months is up.

Further information on the 90 days in 180 days rule.
At the end of last week, the Alicante Provincial Council President, Carlos Mazon, met with the Spanish ambassador to the UK, Jose Pascual Marco, where the subject of UK citizens visiting the area was discussed.

During this meeting, Mazon asked the Ambassador to extend the 90-day period that British citizens are allowed to stay when visiting Spain within any 180 days.

Mazon said that Britons are the main source of wealth in Alicante Province, indicating that tourism in Costa Blanca is significantly dependent on UK citizens that decide to spend their holidays there.

For this reason, in order to help the area’s travel and tourism sector as well as to provide less complicated post-Brexit travel rules, Mazon has emphasised that they are working on reciprocity so that the allowed staying period for UK nationals can be extended to six months.

“Thanks to the Ambassador to the UK for helping us before the British government to take care of one of our wealth: the British-Alicante people who want to live and spend long periods in our land. Working on a common front,” Mazon wrote on his official Twitter account.

Alicante Province currently counts more than 70,000 British residents who own a property in the area. However, due to the rules imposed against Britons after the UK left the European Union, they can’t exceed the period of 90 days. In case they do, they are refused entry to the country, meaning that citizens of the UK have to travel back and forth in order not to exceed the allowed staying period.

Most of that taken from the Schengen Visa site. It doesn't say what the Ambassador's response was or if this will be put to the central government for approval.

Covid cases in the last two weeks have risen in Spain and they are now at the 49 cases per 100,000 or almost medium risk. The Valencia Region has gone from 3rd lowest to 3rd highest with 53.2 per 100,000 and have now entered medium risk. Several municipalities in the area have shown big rises with Benijofar rising to 151 per 100,000 or high risk and Rojales joining them at 101.5 per 100,000.
Not as bad as it sounds due to the relatively small population of these towns and means there have been 15 new cases in Benijofar and 5 in Rojales although cases in both towns dropped over the weekend.

The Valencian President, Ximo Puig, had hinted at reintroducing restrictions in areas going to extreme risk like Benidorm at 260 cases per 100,000 and Castellon at almost 400. They have decided not to do so as yet but the option remains on the table if case levels continue to rise. Now that 90% of the adult population have had both jabs, the number of deaths is very low.

The booster vaccination programme for the over 70s, who will get their flu vaccine at the same time, is going well with some 75,000 boosters given in the region and over 1.5 million throughout Spain. The booster for those who received the Janssen vaccine has now been approved.

Is it possible to get the booster from Janssen yet? Or do they change it in Pfizer?

We have had our flu & booster jabs this week. We were a week short of 6 months for the booster but still had it. My husband was poorly with an upset stomach for a day and we both had very sore arms. You have the flu jab in one arm and then the booster in the another one so for us two sore arms… :text-lol:

Just a little note to those it may affect, but do not realise: if you have had your lymph glands removed from under your arm, you are not supposed to have vaccinations in that arm. Tell the nurse who is doing the jabs, that you have had a lymphectomy.
