From February 14th it will no longer be mandatory to have a cita previa (prior appointment) at government offices. They will still be recommended as the capacity will be limited due to the current crisis. Obviously things like TIE, residency and so on will still need an appointment but NIE, padron updates and so on should be as it used to be.

So it looks like it's back to turning up early, taking a number and then wait your turn. Don't forget your book.

The interdepartmental health group will meet on Monday to review the current restrictions in the Valencia Region.

The president of the community has indicated the following changes:

The covid passport to enter hostelry establishments will not be necessary after March 1st. He did not mention its use in hospitals or residential homes, though. The Valencia Region is only one of four regions that require them.

The current restrictions on capacity at sporting events will be lifted and capacity increased to 100%, probably from March 4th. Up from 75% indoors and 85% outdoors.

The fallas celebrations will be allowed to go ahead but facemasks will need to be worn by the spectators although they will not be necessary for those taking part. Celebrations will be allowed up until 4 am and tents will be allowed to be set up provided there are at least 2 open sides. Mobile discos will be allowed to set up.

Capacity at tables in bars and restaurants will probably remain at 10 with the personal distance being maintained. Smoking outdoors will continue to be banned, including on bar terraces, unless a minimum distance of 2m is guaranteed.

Facemasks will continue to be necessary indoors.

Update on Monday after the meeting ends.

Whilst the rate per 100,000 has dropped to less then 900 on average in Spain, the rate in the Valencian Region remains at over 1200. In the Alicante Province, rates are around 1,300 per 100,000 with Elche, Alicante and Calpe being the highest. The rate in Torrevieja has dropped to less than 700 per 100,000 in the last 2 weeks which is the same as Rojales.

Cases in the region have decreased by a factor of 10 since the end of January.
The cases in Spain have also shown a marked decrease although the number of deaths in the last 2 weeks have risen considerably. Hospitalisations and ICU admittances are down in our province.

The Alicante hospitals have been instructed to lower the waiting lists for routine operations such as cataracts, hip replacements and so on where the waiting lists have risen to over a year in some cases. The Min of Health has promised extra staff to assist in this (yeah, yeah, we've heard that one before Ana).

The covid passport will not be required in bars/restaurants etc as from midnight tonight.
Also eliminated is the 10 per table and the 1.5m distancing between tables.

(Edited: the DOGV does not say they have abolished the 1.5m between tables but they have cancelled the need for those seated at the table to maintain that distance. Tables must still have the 1.5 metre distance).

Covid passports will be required in elderly residence centres and social centres for the elderly.
They will not be required in any other establishment including hospitals.

There are not time limits imposed on any establishment which may open during their licenced hours.

Smoking is still banned outdoors and on the terraces unless a 2m distance can be guaranteed.

Almost back to normal, then.

Facemask wearing is a national requirement, not a regional one.
Therefore the rules for them remain the same. Indoors including restaurants except when seated and recommended outdoors in crowded areas.
