Digital signature- guidance please

Digital signature- guidance please

Postby ElenaJ » Wed Jul 28, 2021 10:30 pm

Hi all,

I've seen a number of threads on this topic but still can't get my head around what I need to do to actually make use of the digital certificate.

I've been to Rojales Town Hall to get the 25 digit number to download the certificate and basically I have a corresponding file now saved in My Documents on my laptop. When I click on it, I see the same instructions that I've used to import the file which I've obviously already done!

Can anyone advise what I need to do to move on? And more importantly, what will I be able to access once it's all set up as it should? My understanding was that I would be able to see various correspondence from the tax office, submit non-residents tax etc. So where do I acess all that?

Many thanks in advance for any replies.

Well we took the digital signature paper we got from the PROP office, to the accountant, and he used it to do our residents taxes.

He then sent me a copy, which i loaded into firefox browser. Now when i go to the town hall site, i get a pop up box when click login, and select mine or my wife's name, and it logs me in. Then i can do stuff like book appointments.

its basically a unique identifier that allows you to log into Spanish government websites that save you a lot of proving who you are.

Thanks for the reply Dave. When you say that you loaded it into your browser, what exactly did you do? I think that's the bit where I am getting stuck. At the moment I have a file saved in my documents.

Thank you

Have you downloaded "Autofirma"?

We got our digital signature last year to present our residency application (EX20) and I'm sure that we had to download autofirma to allow the digital certificate to work with the browser and Spanish websites. See https://firmaelectronica.gob.es/Home/Descargas.html

Also there's a very good "how to" guide written by Jim on another forum. see https://www.guidebookspain.com/guides/

Edit.......Guide here https://www.guidebookspain.com/guides/category/46/misc/electronic-certificates.html

It depends on which version of which browser you are using.

Thanks Paul and Dave.

I'll look up the info via the links you've given. No, I've not downloaded the Autofirma.
I use Chrome.

Will get back to you with an outcome.

Thanks

Thanks for posting the link to this, have tried it out according to the Jim's Guide instructions ( he gives you some nice easy options to test your certificate in action... and it works...! like Elena I had been slightly perplexed as to how to use the certificate...
so thanks again
