Distraction Thieves

BEWARE - I have just returned from the Food Co shop aka Tescos. While I was there a lady had her purse stolen,

The thieves were believed to be Moroccan, certainly French speaking. The distractor was carrying a load of sweet packets in his arms and therefore having problems trying to pick up more. He was about 60 years old and fairly easily identified by his large "beer" belly.
The actual thief was smaller in build. I just wish that I had got a better look at him.

Please always keep your purses & wallets safe at all times. These scumbags may well visit other local stores & markets with the same modus operandi.

There must have been a gang of the scumbags lurking in there as a man also had his wallet stolen.

Dont they have cameras at this store?

I've never noticed surviellance cameras in a supermarket, I'm not sure it would make sense. Supermarkets operate high turnover / low value / small profit margin per item. Even if someone popped a couple of items into their own bag instead of the trolley the loss to the shop would be minimal and wouldn't justify the cost & installation of security cameras.
