I have no feelings either way about dogs. Don't understand why you are seen to hate dogs just because you don't love them.

Exactly.I don’t hate dogs but I am scarred of them
I was sitting in a cafe last week and a man with a huge German Shepherd dog came in and sat at the table behind me. The dog was almost sitting at my feet. We left very quickly!
Happy in the sun.

Why owners think its normal to take them everywhere, even in little baskets beggers belief.
Maybe because for a lot of people there dog/dogs are all they have and there only company have you thought about that.
Get your point but doesn't get away from the fact that all dogs apart from guide dogs should not be allowed in restaurants/bars.

Many people like the fact that you can take your dog out with you in Spain. If it is well behaved and doesn't bother other customers then I don't see the problem?

But a dog being well behaved and not causing a problem is subjective.

remember you are in Spain and that is the custom. You have not come to the country to suit you.fiesta2 wrote:Firstly I am not anti dogs, but why are they allowed in areas where food and snacks are served. Just back from a bar where a poodle barked at every movement. Nothing was said, people came in and stroked and fondled other dogs, no sanitizing afterwards. It beggars belief in these covid times.

Hi all
The law is crystal clear...if you serve food of any kind you cannot allow dogs inside the bar/cafeteria/restaurant/takeaway outlet unless they are a registered guide dog. They are however allowed on the outside terrace of these establishments.
Sadly most of the owners of the establishments normally choose to turn a blind eye to customers insisting their dog is allowed inside as they are spending money and if the business owner dares to uphold the rule he is often chastised and abused verbally by the dogs owner who then walks into a neighbouring bar whereby the dog is made very welcome.
Same rule. ...different scenario.....see how far you get with a dog if you shop in a supermarket to do your shopping?

They are afterall dogs not children.
You don't even take your children everywhere with you.

Thanks for reminding me after 20years! The good old Spanish tradition take your dog to the bar.
