Spanish customs! They have had to change so many. If theyi can stop smoking in bars perhaps taking dogs in bars can be overcome

I will end where i began. Lots of People came into the bar and terrace, stroked the dogs, no sanitizing afterwards. It beggars belief in these covid times.

In my humble opinion I find dogs are much better behaved than children, and mine are loved by all except about 5 people that for some reason are petrified of them, In fact many want them to sit with for a while

This is not England, you're in Spain. Dogs are allowed on outside terraces of bars and restaurants. If you have a problem, take it up with the owners of the dog that is annoying you. I see no reason that all dogs should suffer because of it. I have met many nice people sat in a bar with my dog but had I been without one they would probably not have approached me. I agree with other comments that children are worse. They are allowed to wander free and annoy who they like and let's not talk about the foul mouthed people who can't control themselves after a couple of drinks. The latter two are reasons why I personally don't frequent bars and restaurants as much as I used to, especially in tourist season. One good thing about the last year is that we haven't seen as much of them.

Have you actually ASKED all your friends if they really LOVE dogs or are just too embarrassed to say they dont
This to me is the root of the problem - too many non dog lovers are scared of being classed as dog HATERS. And in the present climate that is assumed to be the case.

Why did ‘sunworshipper’ say they left a restaurant because a German Shepherd sat near them how ridiculous do you think that small dogs don’t attack or bite on the contrary you will find that small dogs are the worst German shepherds are beautiful loyal dogs and are not naturally aggressive. ANY dog can bite or growl but I am sure that where an owner takes their dog into an area with people they will be under control unlike the unruly kids I have seen and also the inebriated louts.
