Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday

Postby DaveP » Sat Apr 04, 2020 11:43 am

There was a post on here recently (sadly now locked), entitled 'When did you last go to church?' which attracted 1447 posts, one of the highest I have seen. Clearly a worthwhile debate. Many people said you should not express an opinion about religion on this site but surely people do that on every posting, express their opinion, and most are polite and helpful. No-one to my knowledge ever accused Billy Graham of ramming religion down people's throats and it's a step of obedience for Christians that their share the good news of the gospel with others.
Easter Sunday approaches ... a week tomorrow.
A famous church historian once wrote 'If Christ is risen - nothing else matters, if Christ is not risen - nothing else matters'.
Lee Strobel, an atheist journalist, set about trying to disprove the existence of God and the validity of the Bible and thereby prove his wife wrong. It (quote) 'ultimately backfired and he ended up becoming convinced of the historical and philosophical validity of Christianity'.
He documented the journey in 1998 in his book The case for Christ.
Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the dead next Sunday 12th April.
If Christ is risen - nothing else matters.
(This post is intended to encourage and give peace, comfort and hope to those struggling with our current situation. If the subject is not of interest to you then no need to comment, please just read something else. Have a great day, best you can).

No problem with the post Dave....

It's your opinion... .. Whatever floats your boat

If anyone has seen the Rojales Easter ceremony on the night before Good Friday up at the crosses then I defy them not have an emotional experience, even if you are not religious....

The problem is DaveP, is that although most people had no problem with what your opinions were or the post in general, there are a small element of members (and is the case in humanity in general) that do not like their own opinions or world view to be challenged. Some of these people will often become hostile in their defence of what they believe to be true. Where as most people are quite happy to say 'live and let live' or 'that's his/her opinion', others will tend to provoke hostile debate or resort to personal insults which usually results in the post getting locked or deleted. I have witnessed this many times on this forum, even before becoming a member. It has also happened to me where my post was deleted for showing videos which exposed the scam of this covid-19 business. I sit here now expecting fierce criticism and abuse from those who are all knowing, which will most probably result in this thread being locked or removed. For that i apologise in advance.

I salute you for having an opinion, and whether i personally agree or not, i respect your right to have it.

Take care.

Is this forum topic General Discussion or not?
if someone has an opposing view from the OP does this mean he is not allowed to voice his opinion? If that is the case what is the point of having a section "General Discussion".
I have a different opinion to Dave P, and as an alternative I suggest people read the book Holy Blood Holy Grail.
