Electricity Issue

Electricity Issue

Postby Matt B » Mon Apr 25, 2022 11:35 pm

Can you help? I’m currently out of the country, and I have been advised by my keyholder that we do not have any electricity. Iberdrola have sent out an electrician who has said there is nothing wrong with my fusebox and there is nothing wrong with the meter in the street. I have home electricity protection with Iberdrola, and the electrician has said we need to contact my house insurance company.
Has anyone experienced similar issues, or can anyone provide advice? I could in part understand if the problem was on my property, but they haven’t been able to confirm this.

We have been without electricity for a week tomorrow, this is unbelievable.

You need to make formal complaint to iberdrola.
Home protection should cover this type of problem, especially one relating to electricity.

Hello, in our case it was a broken cable in the middle of the
Street that broke due to vibration when they put in
Broadband cables and we needed a specialist who could
Search for the place where it was broken. Then they digged
up the street and fixed it. All was paid by the insurance.

Thanks all.

Stieva - was that Iberdrola insurance who paid, or your house insurance?

It sounds like Iberdrola have ruled out they are at fault as the service engineer said no problem with power to the meter and no problem with power from meter to fuseboard. Get an electrician to check out your side of the fuseboard. You would think that a fault would be be causing the breaker to trip on the fuseboard and it would be easy enough to see which switch is tripping and trace it back to the offending appliance or cable.

Hi Matt,
It was my house insurance, "Liberty" who paid. In fact it was not Iberdrolas fault as the cable where
broken in the middle of the road, so they supplied electricity to their box.
