Really! Do you just plug it into your telly and it works?

Buy a second sky box and save the excess weight. You will however, need to pair the card to the box at each end every time.

I have a 1.9m dish pointing at the Astra 2e UK spot beam and a cheap Korean Satellite box. It works most of the time, but in the case where bad weather kills the signal, the backup is we have a Mecool M8 Android Box loaded with CinemaHD+ and MuchoTV which we can turn on and off by the month, and a 100 Mbs fibre optic cable connection to the net.

Yes. We're wth Telfy over there. They've an office based in Rojales and we have a switch on switch off service, so we're not paying for the months we're not there.

When we are there we email them just before we arrive and ask them to turn it on, and they respond more or less immediately that its turned on. Likewise we email them when to turn off, and they again respond that it's turned off.

Costs about€30 pm or part of month that it's turned on. Money is taken by DD from our Spanish bank account.

Mobile reception is dreadful in our villa, so there's no chance of hotspotting it off the mobile phone.

Thank you Murt. Yes it seems the only way to go to have a constant and reliable signal. Their monthly rate is very competitive and well worth it to avoid all the aggro of hit and miss mobile reception.

I’m with Telfy and although the broadband is great, you have to watch them.

Unless it’s changed, they charge per month, but if for example you want it switched on for three weeks from the end of July to mid August, you get charged for two months. Your month must be in the same month, ir it’s charged as two.

Thanks for that QuedadaQuesada. GoFibra seems to be very popular in Torrevieja. They offer a similar on/off package. When all the Covid madness settles- hopefully by next summer- it is one of the priority jobs on my list together with getting the "no paint" railings installed. I dread to think of the rusty bars awaiting us in August. Painting in August in the heat is mostly a nono but needs must.
