Face masks
Face masks
by Quigley » Sat Apr 18, 2020 6:31 pm
Hi all,
I do empathise with all who are struggling to find (or buy) face masks to their bit against this terrible virus.
This week, I managed to buy a couple of masks from the chemist near Consum.
The mask is very basic and costs 2.50€ each.

A lot of scientists are claiming that face masks are only able to stop the spread of the virus and won’t stop you becoming infected by wearing one, I’m not saying we shouldn’t wear them as stopping the spread of the infection is the most important thing in this fight, I just think people should be aware of this as if it’s true masks are mainly for helping the already infected from infecting others although I appreciate how are we to know as we could be infected but be showing no signs hence the super spreaders!

Better to wear one then as who knows if you've caught it or not. Better to be safe than sorry

Hi, I really don’t know how effective these may be, but I am told that the size 4 coffee filter papers can easily be made into masks by stapling length of elastic to each side. I say again I do not know how effective these are, but possibly better than nothing. Certainly cheaper than the rip off prices being charged for the paper masks locally.

I use no.4 for coffee and I did try trying it out as a mask. Useless. Just make one or a few so easy to do, any piece of cloth. I used an old shirt and cut it up, turned out alright.
