Firestick USB vs Mains
Firestick USB vs Mains
by harsuespain » Thu Oct 28, 2021 10:15 am
Hi everyone,
I have just ordered a new Firestick 4K for our bedroom TV. Does anyone know if I should use a USB or mains for power and is there a significant difference.
Regards.

The USB on a TV will not supply the correct voltage for a Firestick which should be 5.25volt 1 Amp 5w it is always advised that you pug the supplied adapter into a wall plug direct or a good quality extension lead
Using the USB on the TV can be the cause of a lot of problems users get when using a Firestick that is why Amazon advise only using a direct connection to a power source and not USB

Use always the usb of the tv in my campingcar, for the Fire stick, xiaomi stick and Chromcast.
Never have any problems,do not have 230 volt in the campingcar.
I think 99% of Fire stick use the tv usb.
Greetings.

This thread is interesting for me because I've just bought one and will be setting it up this weekend. I'm going to take jpeg's advice and plug it into the mains for the set up. Then I'll try plugging it into the usb port to see if there are any problems.

Except when you don't have access to mains electricity e.g. a motorhome or caravan.....
